    A new "mine" system?

I was wondering what you guys would think of this:

Currently, if an engineer (yes, people DO play engineer) lays out mines, and then dies, the mines will disappear soon. My idea is to make it so unexploded/undefused mines stay out AS LONG as the engineer doesnt lay any more. Once he puts down a 6th mine, the 1st one disappears.

    Thoughts?

I say remove the limit, and let people lay as many mines as they want.

You know it would be hilarious..

It would make engineers a little bit more useful...nah, forget it, I think I will just get my L85 and defib, and farm some points off of an IO game

i think the engineer class should be able to construct one or two (at a time) of the following:

        TOW/IGLA/Stinger
        mounted machine gun
some nifty lil baracade.....lil roadblock type thingy....could work like those lil wooden fences u see at square, and market (karkand).....two nades should take em down, or a fast heavy vehicle could break it....

Yeah, engineer deployable stuff would be badass, but there just isnt enough teamwork into it. Maybe on maps like Karkand...

Quake Wars is going to fill that void.

New mine system? How about points for removeing enemy mines?
If you want this game to be like that other game go play that other game!
EA has already made some dumb changes to BF2 please dont ask for more. The only changes needed are to undo some of the changes they have done since the game came out, like the IO mode mess. Instead of IO mode it should have been 2 airfields with an air craft appearing 3 seconds after one flys away or maybe 2 carriers at sea.
Maybe EA could remove one or two of the bugs that are still in the game, instead. Now theres a thought. . . . . . . . .Red

Anyone know how long after dieing the mines disapeer? It seems random to me. Sometimes I still get kills with those mines I placed before dieing, as long as I don't switch weapon to the mine, maybe they stay there. Is there a trigger that makes them disapeer, and I know laying one new mine will do it, but before that? Staying dead and going spectating for a while leaves them in place I've found, at least for a while longer.

The mines disappear when your kit disappears, which means if someone picks up your kit the mines stay there for a longer time.

They should leave everything and add an MG, TOW, and AA to the kit. You select one and deploy. The others dissapear off your list. You can pick the one you deployed up with 'G" and move it somewhere new. That would make engy awesome. Except you might have 15 AA's sitting behind every runway and helipad

                    Cheers

It's better than the 101th Grenade Spammers Brigade fighting their wars in Karkand.

It's not that much of a problem, considering that on most airfields there is a stationary gun aimed straight at the helis/jets spawning. You still get taken out within seconds. Now, if they had an Essex gun on the Airfields, it would be quite a different story.

Yeah, I just worry that a squad of engies will be setting up double, triple, etc sets of TOWS, AAs, whatever. Vehicles coming past that area are instantly dead.... I still think EA could make it work (well if they could make anything work that is...)

                            Cheers
