Any tips for folks with low RAM? (Like 1GB)

I would have a pretty nice PC if it weren't for my low amount of RAM. I get crazy slow load times and lots of hang ups in the beginning of the game. Is there anything us folks with lower amount of RAM can do to help this?

I tried many things, But i just rather get 2GB.

Turn off all background apps....Disable VOIP.......Make it so that all voices in game are English.......Disable intro movies by renaming them....reduce graphic settings...


by doing this i got the RAM overhead down to about 700mb ish

Texture is the main setting to turn down.

Texture will just make it look bad if you take it down.

Turn dynamic lights and lightning to medium/low.

Wow, I have 512 ram, I put everything on medium. Load times are fast. I don't know what all the fuss is about load time. I get like 20-40 seconds and im in.

I only had a gig and didn't think that buying another would really help... I couldn't have been more wrong. Everything opens faster, im usually first loaded into the map its great. And it only cost me £100!.
I Oced my RAM from DDR2 550 to DDR2 800 without raising voltage and it got even better!

TEXTURE is correct.

That is the #1 setting that has the most effect on the amount of ram you have. 2 gigs for HIGH, 1 gig for MEDIUM.

Your GPU will dictate the other settings.

It will NOT make it look bad unless you go LOW. Texture on medium looks pretty close to high. I bet that tweakguides site has a comparison shot of low,med,high for you to judge yourself.

yea i play with medium textures and high lighting, and my game looks awesome still
