    Problem starting game!!!

Hello, I hope someone can help me w/ a very frustrating problem. I bought the deluxe edition of BF2 yesterday, and whenever I click to go into BF2 the splash screen comes up and then goes away and nothing ever happens. Whenever I do ctr+alt+del theres a little thing running called ~e5.0001, and I think that has something to do with it. Now mind you I can get in the game, but thats only if I repeatedly double click the short a bunch of times and sometimes eventually it will go in. This is very, very frustrating...does anyone know whats going on, or how to fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Update your video driver from Nvidia to the most recent version. It's going to be video related.

I can't get the game to start up either.
everything worked fine until the patch prior to 1.41, then the game quit working. after 1.41 it worked for a couple weeks then suddenly stopped.
all drivers are up to date & i've uninstalled/installed with every driver update, still no luck.

My friend is experiencing a similar problem. Starts normally, splash screen and all. Screen goes black, then just drops to desktop and nothing else happens.

                  His Specs:

                  Pentium 4 Processor 3.0ghz
                  Geforce 5200
                  512mb

He was able to play alot just fine before, 20fps and above (after some tweaks to the drivers in RivaTuner, pretty sure this isnt the cause of the problem).

We've tried reinstalling + updating drivers, reinstalling bf2 with and without the latest patch. Still, nothing.

Try dumping the video cache and seeing if it will allow him to boot.

The cache is in the "My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\BF2\cache" and also in each directory you have under "mods". The cache is what is created when your video is optimized. The directories inside of the cache directory should be deleted. Then when you restart BF2 and join a map, your system will reoptimize the video.
