Battlefield 2 freeze problem! plz help!

i have just bought BF2, a couple of days ago. i can play abit, but suddenly the hole computer freezes, and i need to hard reboot :/ i have tried everything. updated drivers to graphic card, opened ports, turned of virus programs. everything i can come to mind

My specs:
6600GT 128 mb
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0 ghz CPU
1gb ram

I have checked my graphic card, and i dont know if its hot for this graphic card, but it hits up to 91+

It says it can handle up to 145, but 91 is just to much my guess :/
My CPU doesnt overheat*

So it freezes all the time, anyone here have any idea how to solve this?

Still sounds heat related. You could do a test by opening the case, pointing a fan into it and seeing if the lockup still occurs. Verify the vid card's fan is still operational.

Possibly bad ram? I'm grasping at straws now. Any overclocking going on? Have you defragged recently? (I doubt df has anything to do with a lockup though).

the ram works fine. no overclocking ever. and no i have not defragged recently. think that will work :o? doubt it tho

I doubt it but you are out of options on my part and defrag / virus and Adware/spyware scan won't do you any harm. Same with downloading all MicroSoft updates and having them installed. Possibly optimize your system for BF2 with this guide,

plz some1 else know of this?

it works well in singleplayer, but in multiplayer it freezes instantly :o i got no firewalls on, connection right on to my modem. opened all ports nessesary(can some1 post right ports, so i can be sure?) no virus programs running. still freezes :/ what is the problem?! i tried to change spots on the ram, mabey that would work, but NO!

Its definetely a hardware problem and Im guessing that 6600 might now pull it with 128MB. Btw, how much RAM do you have?

i got 1gb ram :o that should do it, since minimum is 512. i got 6600GT 128 mb, which is supported, and i run the game in medium :o when it worked :/ and AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2,0 ghz. that should do it i tried switching slots on the ram, but didnt work either :/ some1 gotta know of this issue ?

edit: updated graphic card drivers again, sound card etc, and 1.4 patch for BF2. still not better. i dont know for motherboard drivers, and network drivers, mby that can do it? i rly doubt it tho, if u guys have no other way to solve this?

Update your sound card driver too. They've been known for some issues. A hard crash lockup stumps me. Most of the errors I can think of either restart or turn off the computer.

Try running the game in windowed mode by changing in your BF2 shortcut, "fullscreen 1" to "fullscreen 0". You might be able to see an error message (before doing this, set your resolution a little lower than your desktop resolution).

right click the shortcut > properties, you will see "fullscreen 1" in the target location

thanks, ill try running it in windows mode, tho it got very small :P doubt it will work, but ill fire up a game ^^ better than nothing :P

edit: still freezes :/ i run out of ideas
