mouse and keyboard don't work

hey, i recently installed bf2 and the 1.41 full patch from EA and i tried to play it. it started up fine and in the menu, the mouse worked but when i connect to a server or start a singleplayer game, it goes into the game fine but then the mouse doesn't work! the game doesn't freeze because i can see players running around and trees moving, does anyone know how to fix this? it's really annoying!! > i've never had this problem before.

I'm on -
Windows XP
Geforce 9550 256mb (driver version - 8.263.0.0)
C-Media AC97 Audio Device (driver version - 5.12.1.51)
1gb ram

Install path - C:/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2

Go into your BF2 then into OPTIONS and CONTROLS and somewhere in there is a restore defaults button. hit it and that may help. Any custom keys you set up would be erased though and you'd have to redo them.
