    Very low fps

    My specs are:
    amd athlon 2400+
    ati radeon 9600xt
    1 gig ram

I run on all low settings and only get 20-25fps, i can't play in servers with more than 32 players map because of the lagg. Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong.

My graphics card is off ebay. Do you think it is faulty?? Thanks

No, but BF2 does prefer NVidia. Make sure your drivers are updated. If you hard drive is SATA, make sure it is running DMA and not PIO. Defrag the drive and try to get yourself another gig of ram if possible.

That's not exactly the strongest of setups you have to work with... You're being bottlenecked by... your whole goddamn PC.

            Re: Very low fps

I used to have a barton 2500+, ati 9600xt and 1gig pc3200. There was no way it could be called on to play any modern game. Even when i swapped out the gpu for an nvidia 6600gt 128meg card I still couldn't play bf2.

Upping to amd64 venice 3000+ (overclocked to 2200mhz runnning speed), 2gigs pc3200 with an ati sappire x800gto2 256meg pci-e card i bios flashed and oced to x850xtpe speeds i achieved playable fps at 1024x768 medium everything and 2xAA

now at san diego 3700+ oced to 2750mhz, 2gigs pc3200, ati x1950pro 256meg gpu i can play 1280x1024 everything maximum graphics with average 80-100fps on an optimised map.

What you currently have is what the shops would pretty much call a medium spec home/office pc, not something suitable for playing joint Ops, BF2, FEAR or anything modern at any resolution of frame rate that makes for smooth and enjoyable gameplaying unfortunately. Not having a go at you or your pc, but it simply isn't powerful enough to do anything more than lag and get you killed frequently ingame.

I have two PC's and the 2nd one is a XP 2500+, 2x512mb of DDR 400PC3200 RAM, and a GeForce XFX 5700LE. It plays BF2 @ 1024x768, with most settings on low (100% view distance) with the greatest of ease. I can play online with up to 63 other people. No stuttering. I have 1 meg BBand, and its going through my other PC to connect. I think you may have to go Nvidia, and maybe check your drivers, and maybe see if your being hampered by background apps.

Buy a new computer, since your still on agp and everything else is bad. The ATI 9600 is the worst gaming card. If you want to get a few more FPS with out buying a computer get another 1gb stick of ram.

                      How about me?

                      I have AMD 64 bit 3400+ 2.2ghz
                      1 Gig Ram
                      NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128mb

It's a laggy at times ecspecially when I just join a server, but it calms down, but when those grenades are thrown by...it tends to get laggy during large battlefights

5200 is a ATI 9600. Those are both AGP with barely at all video memory your processor is pretty good tho
