To all the new BF2 players

Please listen to the people on these forums. Everyone will tell you that the best way to play is to just have fun with it. Dont worry about your rank...or your awards/ribbons/badges, they really dont matter. Hell, I've got almost 100hrs in and I'm still getting basic badges every now and then. I'll compile a small list of what NOT to do...as a new guy in BF2.

1. Don't Teak Kill (this is obvious)
2. If you see someone who WAY out ranks you waiting on an attack heli. or a jet...dont try to beat him to it...the point of the game is to do whats best for the team...and I'm pretty sure you cant fly it anyway. Pratice in single player.
3. Don't 'nade spam or any other spam...its retarted...and makes you look retarted. (doing it every once in a while can be fun....but making an attack plan out of it...no)
4.If you join a squad that is playing as a squad...dont lone wolf it...play with the squad...you will do better anyway.
5.Do try to be commander, learn the ins and outs of the whole game...but dont get mad cause your a corporal and a 1sgt takes command.

ive said it once ill say it again,, Bots dont react the same way compared to human pilots.

not to mention thats pretty crap advice.

The only way I learnt how to play in Helli's and jets was getting my *** whooped on public servers. Now I tend to do the *** whooping Single player is good for basic maneuvering, but that's about it.

Well that was the point...at least figure out how to keep it from going nose first into the ground before jumping in on a public server

if u r commander, dont fly or drive or man any vehicles. i dont mind if commanders are out in the field, but theres no way u can command or even spot if ur flying a jet

6) If someone hopes out of a vehicle to repair it, don't steal it. That's just lame.
7) Don't be a commander and only watch your position. If the server has less than 16 people in it, then I say it's ok for the commander to fight. If not, sit your butt still and command.
8) As commander, if there's only one more enemy flag left, try to resist the urge to blast away them with arty. You'll get more points if you let your team do the base raping...err i mean good killing

People disregarding Single Player or LAN server are the nuisance of public servers. Theres a lot more potential that you might think.

One, bots on high skill, with first long range headshot kill will make you quickly reengage and create different engagement methods, that actually work in public servers.

Two, LAN environment will give you plenty of space and room to practice basics of flight.

Three, flying as a gunner in SP will give you the picture of how NOT to fly for a gunner.

Four, you will not piss peope off just because youre a lazy statwhoring idiot.

If you then go to a public server, and become the grey mass again, then you cannot be saved. New people absorb the general rules of conduct quickly, its up to their maturity level, if they become good co players or not.

I cant stress it out enough, Single Play and LAN are perfect for getting your first stripes. Public servers are not.

I remember my first 2 hours of flight- done in LAN.
I remember my helo flight "school"- done in DV SP.
I remember my tank training session- Karkand SP.

Youre out of peoples way, and youre not ruining their game.
