Bought Bf2 and I'm a tad dissapointed by the lack of teamwork

Bought BF2 (after playing 2142 for a while) and I must say
This game is FUN!
But ONLY if I find a good squad, which there seem to be none of.
There are at least like 10 Unassigned on each server I visit and the squads are all spread out across the map (especially the bigger maps)
I always find myself alone finishing a round with 30 points.
Does anyone else have this problem?
It's a great game, but it just feels as though no one wants to squad up and at LEAST stick together.
I mean even if I found a squad where we stayed in relative distance of each other I'd be happy!
Anything I can do?

Put Teamwork in server name filter.. you'll have a great time!

If you find a server who's regulars you like, you will end up finding a valued few who you will look for on one of the game scanners specifically to squad work with them. I do it all the time, but at first, you don't know anyone so it's difficult to start.

It gets better, and worse, the more you play.

yeah, just find a server you like and stick with it. if you're lucky you will find people that have the same wants that you have(teamwork). that makes for a good squad.

hmm...my advice if you desire serious teamplay is to download the Project Reality modification (see link in sig) or else join a decent clan

For your introduction message or whatever put BF2 Teamwork because I have a lot of people from different things adding me at the moment.. I need to be able to identify you.

I wont be home until tomorow so I cant add you until then.. once I get enough people we can make a conference and then join some server and play as a nice squad. Only bad thing is I'm mostly used to playing infantry only in a squad with not a lot of teamwork... I'm not great with vehicles but I can learn. :)

What I enjoy doing is joining a squad & simply following the squad leader where ever he goes. No matter where he goes, just follow him.

Dont listen to people offering you to try mods, for at least first 3 months or so. First you have to get used to BF2 and its specialities.

The thing about BF2 is that it has a ranking system, which makes people work for their own good. If you want to find genuine teamwork, then heres how you find it.

*Prestigious NON-Ranked server, if a NON-Ranked server is well adminned, well established, and has VOIP, there will be teamwork.

*Prestigious and well established ranked server with VOIP, run by a mature gaming community, that has strickt in house rules, most notable is "Attack on UNCAPS not allowed until all flags are capped".

The reason the last one is a good choice aswell, is because regulars are used to it, and attacking an uncap is sort of like a prize. People work hard to cap all flags ASAP so they can baserape. Baserape is their "gold" and they are going for it. Admins are there to stop the idiots from going there before they have to.

*IO (Infantry Only) servers, run by gaming communities, but this is really only in case youre desperate to find the next best thing. Teamwork here is all about running together and tossing massive ammounts of nades. Im just putting this option in, so you can choose it.

*Find a good server, and start playing, keep making a squad, with the same name and maintain a high quality in it. Use VOIP. Be a good and cool guy people would like to play with. Or as an alternative, search for regular squads.
Over my BF2 days, Ive seen a LOT of these squads in. The same people, always in the same squad, and once youre in, its good times. I remember I ran HC66 or Hardcore66 myself for a few weeks, but that was back in June 2005 in the Demo.

Teamwork is not hard to find if you know what youre looking for. Its just not that obvious.

Once you get used to it, try PRMM (Project Reality *Mini?* Mod), Ive heard good things about it, most people in squads, always on VOIP. Personally I prefer POE2, as it has stunned and shocked me and not disappointed yet.

I agree. It's Sad, but, true.
Only had this game for a couple months, but I see a terrible pattern of "every man for himself". I mean, players TKing each other over jets, choppers and even ground vechicles. WTF...?
Yeah, that's how to keep players around...
Maybe you guys just havn't been around to see games you really enjoy die and lose the company support and online servers. Then they're crying "But, why?"
Because of the mentality "If I can't win, I don't want to play"
Maybe I've just played so many games where teamwork wins the day, not a bunch of individuals doing their own thing.
