Can't Launch BF2

Hello. I've played BF2 in my notebook before, but now that I've formatted it I'm not being able even to launch the game anymore.
I'm not sure what's the problem.
It's not video, I guess. When it was working, I had the same drivers I have now, and I've already tried to reinstall it.

When I double click the icon, the screen goes black like when it's going to change resolution. But when it should start playing those introduction movies, it suddenly goes back to desktop...

Do you have any idea of what's going on? This is very anoying.

PS: Since I don't have my CDs with me, I'm using a ***** crack. Could it be that the crack is messing with the game? Do you have a better one?

The No Crack could be the culprit.

Check for new drivers (no matter what you said about them being the same) for the sound and the video, and make sure you are defragged and that you have tried reinstalling 1.41.

sometimes you need to have some codecs installed on yer PC for games to run. Make sure you have the latest Divx codecs & Media Player installed. Also that crack could be the issue & if you managed to get online with it, PB would ban u. So uninstall the crack.

that just provides information on how to make an image, but does not answer the question, and MAY not be the answer to the problem.

True,

I'm just eliminating variables as always. Any time I see the word Crack or Hack, it has to go first. Even if this isn't the issue, when he gets his issue fixed, he will most likely be banned by Punk. My offer eliminates a variable of possible trouble and saves heartache in the future.

im new to this and smaething happen to me can anyone help me and what is a crack?
its says their is error on windows and sayiong if you were in the middle of somehting you might be missing something so idk
but i oplay on regular comp so idk one today i was playing then few hours later it doesnt work

Oh... my DVD is currently borrowed =)

Guys... There is no update available for my audio and video cards.
I've downloaded a mini-image and got rid of that ***** crack.
Now it shows the splash screens but crashes after the normal black screen that shows up.
I'm downloading DivX, updating WMPlayer and everything from Windows Update.

Hope this works... But still not sure about it. =(

I have the same exact problem as "Chiclops" but it is on desktop computer.
I occured after installing the last update. 1.41(?).
The window goes black and the back to desktop. It is not video hardware because it works before installing driver, I've tried it.
Just in case the video card is RADEO X300SE running on a Emachine T6520.

Didn't tried without any patches, but I'm using the last version too (1.41)
I'm finishing downloading and installing now...

Installing 1.4.1 now...

Solved the problem!!!

Still not sure how...
But here's what I did.
Updated WMP to v11.
Installed DivX.
Installed some Windows Updates (still downloading, by the way)
Tried to find updates to video and audio cards, nothing found.
Uninstalled everything, deleted profiles, folders, everything.
Installed just the original BF2 (no patches at all)
Executed OK.
Retrieved online profile and created an offline one.
Increased resolution.
Exited the game.
Added widescreen to the shortcut (+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 800)
Installed Patch 1.4.1 (took a lot of time, as usual =[ )
Mounted mini-image
Executed game -> Worked fine.

Not sure which one did the magic but I think those ***** cracks messed everything. I noticed that the patch patches the BF2.exe and the CoreDll.dll so I didn't touched them.

Try doing it quattroman, it might work for you as well.

I've installed BF2 in another machine I have (PC) and had the exact same problem.
What I did was to update WM Player, download DivX, do the windows updates, uninstall everything and reinstall it again.
Worked just fine.
Try to reinstall it Quattroman =)
Take 1 hour or 2 to do it =P

That patch is sooo sloooooowwwww...
