Why is it when no one runs over your AT Mine or steps in front of your Claymore it disappears? If it doesn’t get used it should go back into your kit gear, I’m I right or wrong? This is very annoying when you’re a sniper and you lay claymores around you and say 10 minuets later someone comes up from behind you and knifes you because you claymore is gone for no reason. WTF???
stuff only dissapears if the kit that they belong to dissapears, so if you put a claymore down on a ladder, get shot, go back to the same spot without placing a new claymore, then the claymore will dissapear when the kit that put it down dissapears. Same with AT mines and c4.
Does the same work, if I switch from AT kit to sniper kit, lay a claymore or two, then switch back to the AT Kit? I notice they claymores disappear after a certain time, even though I haven't died...
Mines and clays are attached to the kit. The kit sits on the ground for roughly 15 seconds after the death of it's owner. Once it disappears, it's mines and clays will disappear in about 30 seconds.
If I see an errant Engineer kit or Sniper kit and I have 10 seconds, I'll switch to that kit and 'set us up the bomb' and then switch back to mine knowning it is only good for roughly 45 seconds, but sometimes, thats all it takes for that one extra kill.
I still don't think that explains what he's talking about. Obviously the kit to which the claymore belongs hasn't disappeared if he's still alive. The clays are fading out while he's camping and people are stabbing him in the back.
I've seen this happen while playing as commander. As MEC on Karkand I liked to get onto the tower at the factory and put a clay at the base and top of the ladder. As arty couldn't get me up there, I could go a good long time without dieing. The clays were always gone sometime into the round. I have never wasted the time to see how long it takes but I know they don't last until you die and your kit is gone.
Ok.. to make good use of this thread.. does anyone know about any charts that show me the maximum amount of medkits/ammo bags/claymores/C4/Claymores you can throw/lay at a time, when they will dissapear (without being used) and will they dissapear if you die/your kit dissapears.

Does anyone know?
Medkits = zillion, ammo packs = zillion, claymores = zillion, C4 = 5 (the first ones you laid will start disappearing if you lay more). They don't disappear when you die.

I think I'm gonna find some empty server and do an experiment with different things like that.. I'd do it right now but I'm no where near home.. I'm at my Aunts house for boxing day.. I know theres something that makes the medpacks and ammo packs dissapear because otherwise I would be getting a point for every medpack or ammopack I threw in crouded areas which doesn't happen.. do medpacks get drained (and dont give you a point) if your teammates are close but not right on it? If they do do they dissappear after they get drained enough?
I dont know why I want to know this stuff I'm just very interested in how the game works.. don't know why.
Med Kits are closer to four. Same with Ammo Packs. C4 is five (although when upgraded to C4.1 beta, I heard you can do 6), Clays are 2 and Mines are 5.
Any more than the above and your first laid ones (heh heh heh, I said laid) start to dissapear.
Look for "ObjectTemplate.fire.maxProjectilesInWorld" in the .tweak files.
For claymores it's 2 and the others are 5.
I'm wondering if possibly throwing grenades might get included in this limit since they use the same "ThrownFireComp" object as the more persistant thrown items. Maybe throwing 'nades after you place all your mines will cause the oldest mine to disappear since it will create another object with the same name. Just a shot in the dark.
Some bags will stay for about 30 or so seconds, but yes they dissapear. Same with too many of any of them. They stay for a bit, but dissapear in the same order they were put down.
