BF2 Video Settings.

What Video settings do you run at & why? I know people who buy really expensive & high end video cards only to run the game w/o the shadows & everything off. Its understandable, but IMO if you have the GPU power then use it!

At this very moment i'm running
All High
4x AA
1024x768

As long as I stick to 16 or 32 man servers, my FPS is fine (35-100).
if I run All Medium my FPS is decent, but not much higher. (CPU seems to bottlneck me in the bigger servers, thus why I stick to smaller servers)
My average FPS on Karkand is 50+. All other maps its 35+. Karkand seems to be really relaxed on the system. I guess its that fog.

I really crave eye candy. The shadows & lighting really make the game enjoyable. With lighting or other advanced settings on low & off the game is really bland. Sure my FPS is high, but I cant stand how bright the game looks w/ low lighting.

I play with med textures, med terrain, low dynamic light, 100% view distance and everything else on low/zero. My computer can handle slightly more than that but I prefer it as it is because everything is clear and there aren't any really dark patches which I can get caught out on. Also there's nothing to distract me from playing.

well ur choice but I would never do that unleas my pc couldnt handle the game on max settings, it would make me feel stupid and low

I haven't looked in a bit, 1.41 crashed my BF2 so I had to uninstall. While I was playing I think I had everything dealing with shadows and dynamic lighting to med and everything else on high with 2x AA. I had to turn down a couple of things in order to run at 1600x1200. I spent what I did on my comp so I could see all the cool eye candy. I really like to keep everything as high as I can on games like Oblivion and F.E.A.R., though. I can't imagine playing a game that can display awesome visuals with hardware that supports such graphics on settings that are crappy. It just ruins the immersion for me.
When my buddy saw BF2 on my comp, he didn't know that the APC on Karkand by the Hotel was on fire, that there were posters for BF1942, or that the t-shirts on clotheslines actually said things on them. His 5x00FX card(can't remember which) couldn't handle anything other than low everything, no AA, and 800x600 while keeping a decent framerate. Once he saw what BF2 COULD and SHOULD look like, he upgraded immediately and never looked back.
I try to keep my comp fairly up to date to keep up with consoles. My current system came about because I hated that GTA:SA looked so much better on my PS2 and HDTV than it did on my comp with my H-erD(Higher Definition: 1280x1024) monitor. I played BF2: Modern Combat on PS2, and I'm so glad I upgraded my comp to make BF2 look MUCH better than that.

I'm having a bit of troubles here. I updated my GPU slightly. My previous card was GF 7800GT and my new one is X1950 Pro which should be about 30-40% faster card than 7800. At the moment it's opposite. I already reinstalled Windows to get better platform by getting totally rid of all old nVIDIA drivers. (Also my C: was kinda full with old rubbish so I let em go).

Still it seems that my old 7800 was faster card for BF2. I don't know is it a driver issue or what but hope I'm gonna find the reason.

Anyhow, I'm playing with resolution of 1280x1024 AA off, and all other settings medium/high. view distance 100%.

I can manage all high with 1 or 2 medium and 2 x AA

All high 4x AA and 1440x900 widescreen :P. Sexy!

BTW, there is one setting (shadow or detail) that lights up all dark spots and makes spotting the enemy a lot easier.

med terrain, med textures, med shadows, med dynamic lighting, high lighting, and high everything else and 2x AA @1280x1024. i guess i learned that ram is holding me back

I have it all on high, 1280x1024, 4xAA, 16xAF. The day before yesterday it was 75fps constant, but all of a sudden it drops down to 40fps... Something is ****ed up.

I've got all high, expect antialiasing. 1280 x 1024 is my resolution.

Quality it is!
