Serious driver error.

Watching a battle-recorder of Oman, I was following the cobra when all of a sudden my monitor goes black & my PC restarts itself.

My PC reboots fine, and im greeted with:

"Your system has just recovered from a serious error.
The driver for the device (x800XL etc..) could not complete a drawing operation etc...

This has happened before, but rarely. I googled the error & few results came up. It seems to be few & far between.

Im not sure what a "drawing operation" is..

windows/logfile/watchdog

states it was an "infinite loop". Apprently its a known issue.

This "your system has recovered..." message comes up sometimes on my comp aswell. But I've never had it with any graphics driver...
If you say it's a known issue, and it happens very rarely on your comp, I don't think you have to worry.

I suppose you've got the latest drivers, right?

Yes I have the latest drivers.
This is only the 3rd time i've seen it happen in the 8 months i've had my x800XL. Im seeing alot of mixed solutions to it. But the error message did specifically state it was the driver that caused the error.

It seems to be quite common on VIA motherboards & I have a VIA motherboard.

But I may be upgrading soon, so I suppose i'll live with it for now.

I would uninstall all of your graphics drivers and then reinstall.

However, make sure that uninstall them thoroughly before reinstalling. This means running a redundent registry entry check program such as CCleaner to try and remove every mention of them in Windows Registry.

If you are able enough, you might want to go into "regedit" through "Run" but make sure you know what you are doing.

I have heard of VIA boards having problems before, but only with USB. It could therefore be something to do with you mobo.

I'd point the errant finger at your power supply or heat production. Specifically watching a graphic heavy proggy and then it shuts down? Sounds like Power or Heat to me.
