Help me please

I just got BF2 and it installed fine. When i started up the game i got the what seems to be common error that says there are CD/DVD emulations detected and that they should be turned off. I did some research and saw that its caused by Clonecd and alcohol and things like that. How do i go about turning them off or getting rid of them? reply here or just email me, any help would be appreciated.

Usually the emulator software will have a control panel icon that may allow you to turn it on or off. Sometimes an icon for them will appear in the lower left area by the clock and again allow you to turn them off. Worse case senario is the ADD/REMOVE programs link in the control panel to completely uninstall them.

They arent on the panel or in add/remove because i already took care of them but its still showing up : /

Reinstall said software (be it clone or Alcohol) and then use their native uninstall links.

Make sure when you are trying BF2 that the BF2 disk is in your primary CD or DVD player.

I did what you said and everything worked great, i got a few hours of play and then.... it cant reconnect to my account or something like that or it freezes when it tries to connect

now what do i do?

Try a general computer restart.

If that doesn't do it, defrag and scan for viruses. I find it conicidental you got a couple of hours play in and then it crashed. I'm thinking there is a possibility of overheating graphics card. Can you spell out your rig?

alright, it turned out one of my fans is dead, i replaced it and it works fine.

My last problem, i promise.

Im only getting about 5 servers that i can play on because the rest aren't the same version as mine. I have v1.22 the patches update it and make more servers available right? and if so do i have to install each proceeding patch or can i just intall 1.41?

Thank you for reading the guide and telling me ,

you only need 1.41 from this point on. It is a full upgrade and requires no others be installed before it.

If later on you add on Armored fury, Euro forces or Special forces you will need to reinstall the 1.41 afterwards again. Keep the update on CD if you can.

Ok maybe thats not the last problem, this is one of the buggiest games ive ever played but its still fun.

I get to a certain point in the patch download and it stops, then says operation timed out. Im guessing this is a setting on my computer that stops a download after it passes an amount of time. How do i change this?

Sorry, I cant tell from just that description. Are you on Wireless? Massive downloads can time out on wireless systems. You'd be better off gaming if you could hardwire to your router.

If you are not wireless, then I'm not sure.

Im wireless. and there really isnt any way for me to change it in the near future. Anything else i can do? would it work if i downloaded the patch on my hardwired comp to a cd then did it from there?

Yup or a friend who can download and burn it for you. You just need it on CD then run it on your computer.
