Can't play ranked servers in BF2

Its been 1 year that i didnt play BF2 for a long time, lost time i checked, its was somewhere in april but none for that, my problem is that i can't lay any of the ranked server but i could still play the unranked servers which i kinda hate because i hate wasting my time for getting nothing (like unlocks, medals so i would improve my profile). Plz help!!!

yea i checked it, all the rank server are coloured red

Update to the latest version, in this case it's 1.41.

i downloaded the patch from xfire then after i clicked it, it flashes two black screens and crashes back to the desktop

Don't download from XFire, download it from EA's homepage.
What problems are you getting with playing on ranked servers? Does it tell you that your CD-key is invalid or something?
