how is the 7800GS better than the 7600GT, well okay it has +200 on its name, but they only thing it exceeds on the 7600GT is pixel pipeline...

The 7800GS is much better than the 7600GT. The rebate on the 7800 goes till dec.30 so you have time to decide.

As for the CPU, the only problem is that can you trust those sites. Will they give you good service, will the shipping have no problems.

Well I have 2 Dell 8250s, and i am using the one with a 2.4 GHz P4, 1 gig of ram, SB! live audio, and an ATI 9700PRO 128mb graphics, it runs medium okay. sometimes i get lag if i get into a server with alot of people in it, but other than that its fine.

i was thinking of maybe just putting a 3.2/3.0 p4 and a 7800GS into this baby. that would run high(with 1024x768res and 2xaa), right?

for sure, maybe 4x and a bit more resolution too

I was recommending the 7800gs up till recently but the AGP performance crown has been passed to the X1950 Pro, they are both good but the ATI performs better.

I've got a question about the graphics on my system too...

My Specs are
Athlon 64 X2 4200 DC
Nvidia 7900GS 256Mb
1Gb DDR2 533Mhz RAM

At the moment i've got the bottom 3 options turned off (Can't remember exactly what they are:p) with everything else set to Medium, and resolution set to 1240 x 1080 @ 60Hz

Can I run everything on high with my setup or will it still struggle? I know i'll eventually need another gig of RAM but 1 is all i've got for the time being

@shewillchoke. bottlenecks - the 9700pro will only play well in 1024x768 if you turn all the options to low and second, the ram which you cant change without changing motherboard. Bf2 likes 2gb and it likes it fast, you have neither.

Its a hard pill to swallow but youd do well to start again rather than buy a prescott space heater, even if that meant a budget pcie mobo and value ram for now- you cant get away from the fact you need 2gb sooner or later and the price of another pair of RIMMS (if your board has the space) is still so high you might as well start over - dont forget you can claw back a ton of cash if you ebay your rdram system too.


@super_6 try it, itll be ok if it doesnt work, itll stutter a bit, just set it back.
