    Problem with xp

Hey, my computer got messed up so I put the xp cd in and repaired my xp and it seems to work.

BUT.... when i start it up, when my computer gets to the blue screen where it says "windows is starting up" it takes about a minute to do that before it gets to the usernames. It wasnt like this before.

    Any help would be good.

Have you run Microsoft Update yet? If not, do it now, and select "Custom" an get every damn update there is.

Been a long time since I have done a repair install instead of a clean install, but I'm pretty sure you need to install/re-install all drivers as well (and it won't hurt either).

You're lucky you're not me. I spent a whole week trying to swap a motherboard over (problem after problem after problem), the PC would work in the day, then something would happen and I needed to do either a repair or a total reinstall. Imagine staying up till 4:30 and waking up at 6:30 for a whole week. Pissed.

You put the wrong switches. You need to set it to "Mini-Setup", "Reseal", and "Redetect Non-Plug And Play Devices". Especially the last one.

You have to tick Mini-Setup first, then Reseal, then Redetect non-PnP devices.
