BF2... no response...help!!!

ok... i have been playing bf2 for a long time with no errors... untill now
i click on the bf2 icon on my desktop, it loads for a split second and nothing happens....
i looked into task manager bf2.exe come up then instantly terminates...
i have treid EVERYTHING i can think of... i tried to run with start/run
taskmanger run
pull it out of cdrom and put it back in ....
none have worked, even after i reinstalled......

but here is my delemia(i think)
i did a trend micro free virus scan and i got
MS06-056
MS06-033
no info at all on them
Trend cant delete them
its just a box with those two in it, i have no idea what to do. so im turing to my Totalbf2 peers

PLEASE HELP ME!!! I AM NOTHING WITHOUT MY DAILY BF2 AND SANDBOX:cry:

Try AVG. It's another free virus proggy but it really does rock. Very googleable.

Other than that, sounds like you need a severe defrag.

Neither of those are viruses, they're security holes in the lovely Microsoft programs you run.

overheating problem? try puttin a fan near your comp, i did so and BF2 started working again.

Most of those can be plugged (I don't specifically know about these two) by updating your Wndows software through

!!!EDIT!!! ok, i tried to cool my computer but that didnt help... and the only update i found was internet explorer 7..... so still nothing...

and some of you may be mistaken... when i click on the bf2 icon NOTHING comes up... no bf2 window... no black screen NOTHING

are you sure the shortcut data is still valid?

Right click it, goto properties and check the paths in 'Target' and 'Start in' and make sure they they point to the correct folder on your hdd. Check that only +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 follow the path in 'Target' and if youve ever added anything there yourself, take it out for now. Click 'Find Target', do you see your bf2 folder?

Its probably ok but check it anyway.

im positive... i'v tried opening with task manager, right out of the folder, start/run/bf2.exe

!!!!edit!!!! ok, i'v concluded that it is EA and all of their stupidity.....
i can play ANY game not provided by EA games....
i tried BF2142 BF2 AND Sims2 NONE work
yet Counterstirke, Age of empires, oblivion, THEY ALL WORK
EA heres ANOTHER hate message.....

Have you tried reinstalling? Updated your drivers? Updated your drivers? Updated your drivers? Updated your drivers? Updated your drivers? Updated your drivers? Etc...

It's unlikely that it's EA's fault, they can't cater for every damn PC made.

start/run/bf2.exe wont work, itll produce an error....did you check your shortcut as suggested?

yes i checked... you dont understand... i have treid to runit out of the bf2 directory!!!
and i dont "produce" an error
it just the loading curser for about 3-5 seconds and then NOTHING

That won't work either. CHECK THE BLOODY SHORTCUT FFS.

Try manually updating punkbuster.
