Join Server = Crash to Desktop

    EDIT:
Just noticed there was a neat sticky with all the common problems and it explained the reason. It is probably the cd key thing... I opened it just to see what it was today and didnt enter my cd key.
Followed the fix on the sticky and it worked for me. Please delete this thread as it is no longer necessary. I've really should had read the sticky first as it implies but I didn't notice it before. Thanks Warlord2000ad @ EAUK Games Forum for the solution and posting it on the sticky.

    Hi,

Ok,this is kind of weird as it has never happened to me before today.

I load up BF2 and go to the server browser to select a server, but the moment I click the Join Server button, the game just black screens and crashes to the desktop. This also applies when I try to join a server through IP.

I am pretty sure it's not graphics related because I can Create Local Server or start a Single Player game.

I still played a game today before this problem happened. I remember closing the game in a hurry by pressing ALT+F4. Could that be the reason?
I've done that many times and this never happened. I tried clearing cache or deleting Battlefield 2 folder but to no avail.

I'll try reinstalling 1.41 and if it doesn't work I guess I'll have to try reinstalling. Re-downloading 1.41 at the moment (I always delete the patches but I guess I should keep it this time...) and it's at 20%.
Meanwhile if anyone knows a way to fix this please do say!

    Thanks!

I deleted all my files in my documents from Battlefield 2(make sure if u want to keep your screenshots, move it to another folder), i uninstalled BF2 and reinstalled and never crashed when i tried to join a server again :).

You don't have to delete the Battlefield 2 folder in My Documents. Simply move it or rename it.

So, is the only solution to this to reinstall? Or is there some configuration I can just remove and have rebuilt by BF2?
