When you have a dual core processor and are playing bf2, does bf2 only use 1 core? Like im getting a e6300 and will it mean that its only using 1 1.8 ghz core?

I've read dual core does nothing for BF2
I've read a patch is coming to give BF2142 dual core support which implies BF2 doesn't have it now...
So much disinformation...will the answer affect your purchase? It shouldn't, you want a dual core regardless. 2007 will definitely make use of it, Crysis says it will use 4 cores if you have them. -

It shares the load between the two cores.
If you have a G15 keyboard you can watch it all happening on the LCD screen.
I'm using the E6600 processor and am very happy with it.Comment

speed isnt everything also, it has a nice 2mb ( i think) l2 cache or something pretty large. my p4 has only 512kb in the L2Comment

As for it being added to 2142, don't hold your breath...if they do anything at all on this, it will be a marginal increase. It would require a major MAJOR recoding of the engine. I doubt they will waste their time+money on this since they will be starting from scratch for the next engine.Comment
