No Bunny Hopping Server Rule?

Can this be enforced by admins ? or is it against ROE? I have been kicked and warned for bunny hopping, but its not a cheat, exploit. Its just lame clans that cant kill bunnys seem to try and make this rule. :hmm: I dont see how you can be kicked for doing this.. thoughts ?

I've started seeing crazy stuff in server rules lately,

No rank over Sgt Major
Sniper Rifles only
No C4 or Claymores
No throwing nades into a flag which an enemy is capping
No crashing into armour

The best one has to be... No rolling when going prone!!!!

Rather than get irate at these stupid rules I just hit the escape button and join a 'normal' server.

Oh and I nearly forgot, No using aircraft or commander if there are less than 8 players. :laugh:

Not true. Server admins may not enforce rules that are part of the game engine, or enforce rules that limit the players ability to carry out actions, play as a certain kit etc.

The only way they can be kicked is if they are beilieved to be using macros.

wow.... there's like 50 or so servers that I know of offhand that don't allow bunny hopping. And they've been around forever.

ill retract my comment after looking back at a thread in the server owners lounge :p i thought it was after seeing dozens of servers with it listed as a server rule.

That's because EA can't be bothered shutting down servers. Apparently the host companies complained to EA about loosing too much money for getting shut down from anal rules. So EA now target the admins who enforce the rules. Not sure whether it's true or not, but I know for a fact that you can't kick someone for bunny hopping as it's part of the game engine and isn't an exploit, nor is it giving a player and advantage over others as everyone can press the space bar repeatedly.

Admins should be allowed to kick because, it makes their game unique in the way that a lot of people dislike bunny hopping.

This is not to say that just cause one person dislikes it, they can change the rules, but it is up to the server admin, and the amounts of complains about bunny hop does justify it.

I mean many servers dont allow people to attack un-cap bases, and that is limiting the gameplay of others and there are no rules to ensure this. But it is generally accepted because people prefer it.


I do bunny hop, a lot of the time it is reflex, i cant stop unless i gradually practise not bunny hopping lol.

But at the end of the day why pay to own a server if you cant make it your own?

You get all these crybabies in the game of BF2 and this crap is going to happen.
Everyone has something they don't like. I agree that constant bunnyhopping is annoying. However it is not "illegal". Learn to lead them and kill them in the air.

No, it is generally accepted as, according to the ROE it is at server owners discretion whether they allow uncap attacks or not.

I think the reason why we see so many servers enforcing rules that are not allowed to be enfoced, is that EA simply don't care about BF2 anymore since the release of 2142.

Im sure it used to be in the roe that you could restict bunnny hopping and dolphin diving but have just checked and it isnt there any more.

It does say:

3 LOCAL (PRIVATELY RENTED) RANKED SERVER RULES MODIFICATIONS

These are rules that are not enforced upon in EA’s public ranked servers but may be modified in privately rented ranked servers. These rules are decided by clan administrators for those servers and as long as they do not contradict any global rules enforced by EA are considered valid for those servers.

This means that server admins are allowed to kick for bunny hopping. Our servers will kick you for bunny hopping as it is sucks and is totally unrealistic. Bunny hopping shows no skills as it is only used to avoid fire.

If you dont like it find another server that allows you to jump arround like a f*g.

Yea way to many 10 year old admins that cant play so they kick and ban them
