    Hitboxes, lag, jets.

Something got me thinking today (Thankies to Chodda). Is there a similar receipe to use cannons on jets, like the TV shots on the choppers?

Im basing this on my personal experience. Ive done a sh!tload of research in the past, trying to figure out the proper lead. Im honest when I say this- it took me a lot to smoke a F35B with the cannons. Now I usually play with ping of about 150, but heres the kicker- I can TV with the same results at 30 and 150 ping. So it makes me think, maybe theres a formula to cannon jets with 150 ping with the same success as with 30, like I do with the TV missiles?

The kind of research I did was either to ask a friend to be a test subject for him to tell me where the tracers went (hes playing at 15 ms ping, Im at 150). So I always went more and more forward, up to 2-4 jet lengths ahead. I know that I can nail all bombers when I aim at the center of their bodies, and thats even with 150ms ping, alike 30. Then trying to shoot down any of the fighters, I end up shooting way in front of the target, because direct body hits count for zero.

The moment I start regular BF2 play again Im going to do a little work on this.

The question of the topic is, is there a secret receipe for cannon aiming? You dont have to tell your secrets, just yes or no will do.

I find that I normally will start fairly far out, about 3 jet lengths if they are moving across my screen, and move in as I close the angle. If I am behind them, and slightly above them, I aim for the cockpit, and hit the engines in the back, for a pretty quick kill. If I am right on top of them, I aim slightly ahead of them, and hit in the cockpit are for a very quick kill.

I don't know about leading for ping cause I always play on low ping servers, so I just have to lead for the bullet drop and because... they're bullets so they don't move at the speed of light. lol.

Here is something you might or might not already know. I'm practicing pixel shots with the cannons, and this is pretty much how far the bullets will travel.

Wow, they go quite a way huh.

As for gunning down fighter jets... I like to lead maybe 1-2 feet if I'm coming at the from the side, if I'm behind and we're in a turn then maybe 1-2 jet lengths, depends how fast and what angle etc..

i play on 15-30ping servers and it depends on what angle your attacking from and the distance between you as to where you shoot.
if you look at your tracers you will see that at a certain distance they start to drop, that is when you need to lead by alot more.
its hard to describe to someone how to do it, since its an automatic thing, so just practice and practice.
as for hitbox lag... ive never seen any with jets.

i will say your stupid for playing with such a high ping tho, you really need less than 50ms.

Yeah the cannons have a ****load of bullet drop after a certain point.

Pretty much, if you look at those two pictures I was aiming UP. lol.

I would say, from where I was at, to maybe ... the tips of the islands. That is where it really starts falling.

Do they even have bullet drop?

I dont really know all that much about cannon application. I started whoring a jet (attacking ground) fairly late, and using the cannons on the ground even later. Ive used them in dogfights but always as secondary. Ive been OK at tracking and figuring out patterns so I always just followed until I found a missile shot window. Cannons simply never worked for me. I always watch the big dogs jet videos and say "WOW" on how accurately they use their cannons, with great stability, so maybe you guys knew the tricks LOL.

Now, I can chase and do a lot, but the way I fly, it looks like the jet is on ice, flopping and extremely unstable and just not cut out for cannon use.

Say, has anyone tried actually firing behind a jet? If you were chasing one in a turn, and aim for the tail? Or a few feet behind engine?

EDIT, I know the rounds "appear" to have drop in sharp turns, but thats simply because of jet movement. Never knew they have actual bullet drop as they appear like lazers for me, lazer accurate.

Zippor, if you lived in Europe, youd sing a different song really. The gaming culture is different and company is worse. I prefer to suffer and play with great company, than own, rape in pure solo. If I did, I would have been bored a long time ago.

of course we have fired at a jet directly from behind, you follow their path and shoot the engine, if your far away then you may have to lead. like i said watch your tracers!!

in a turn you have to lead, usually u will have to shoot ahead of the plane, but again, you have to watch the tracers!!

i am in europe.. the UK!! and i dont know what your on about worse company... all bf2 servers have idiots and nubs in them

You gave me a few ideas that I need to test out.

I have not been on one server from Europe that I wanted to stay on for longer. All BF2 servers have noobs and idiots, correct, but Ive found a better selection of well adminned US servers. Most of all, US servers have people speaking one language, which me likes a lot. I think its the cultural variety of European servers.

Yes jets cannons have an ***load of bullet drop after a certain distance.

                    For instance..

If you go to wake, and just shoot your cannons, they will be hitting the water at the area where the end game screen is looking at. Basically north village length.
