Another Server Connection Refused

Today I have been unable to connect to either BF2 or BF2142. In BF2 it gives me a server connection refused, BF2142 it just takes ages to connect and nothing happens. I have searched the forums and google for suggestions. I tried the retrieving account. Turned off all firewalls and such. Is there anything else I'm missing or will I have to reinstall? Would a reinstall do any good? Are there any DLLs or files that should be deleted that could be causing this problem?

And if I did reinstall, how would the patching go? Could I go from a fresh install to 1.41?

Also, my MSN messenger stopped working just as BF2 and BF2142 stopped. The error in the troubleshooter is a Key Ports error. My iTunes does though so I have no idea what is wrong with my computer.

I can at least answer this for you.

Yes, as the 1.41 only has a full version. Sure, it will take a while, but it's quicker than 8+ incrementals.

Its alright now. Waited 24 hours and it worked, nothing on my computer changed though. Probably an external problem with EA for me.

I am still getting connection refused, with 1.41. I uninstalled the game and installed from scratch and then the 1.4 patch. I was able to log in and play the game (on what few servers are still running 1.4).

But, when I completely uninstall and resinstall from CD and then install 1.41 patch I get the connection refused message again. Grumble. Any other ideas?
