Don't mean to whine...

Yeah, I was on an SF server, I think it was my first time, and I was doing quite well in my first round.

Addrenaline kicked in just as the round ended, us winning, and I thought, 'OK, just a little wait for the new map.' and because my computer is ok/bad, hehe, I ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes.

The thing that annoyed me most though was that when I finally got onto the server again I read the top of the chat box and it said, 'Kicking Weed3n. Reason: Idle' I was like, 'Oh... :cry: that sucks. Just as I was getting used to the game'

Just thought I would ramble about this annoyance, what are your thoughts?

I can't imagine waiting 15-20 minutes for a single map to load....must suck a lot, doesn't it?

Yeah, must upgrade my computer. Christmas soon so hopefully will do then :P

Not all servers use the auto kick feature for idling. If your machine takes a long time to load maps, cross your fingers and hope you don't get kicked for long load.

mine loads in bout 2 to 3 mins cos i have 10 meg broadband. plus i have my grfx on a mix of low and medium

has nothing to do with what speed your broadband is,

CPU/Ram/Hard drive speed, and perhaps a smudge of Graphics card aswell.

My comp doesn't even meet the min requirements and it only take a few mins to load...

I am betting when the map changed, it went to a night map causing the optimizing shaders, on a slower PC, that could take quite along time.

I'm usually the first in, takes about 20-30 seconds to load.

15-20 minutes... WOW.... Really, wow... I couldn't play if it took that long just to change maps, or I would play on servers with one map on 99 rounds.

first time on an SF server? you sure it wasn't doing the optimize shaders thing? that can take a bit and on an already slow machine i could see 15-20mins.

Or the map changed and your system didnt' recognize it. I've waited forever for Ghosttown to load and found out that the server had changed to something else and I wasn't updated. I only wait a couple of minutes max before I have to shut it off myself. My normal map load time and verification are SATA fast
