    Missing Cab2 on Patch

    Hi there,

Had to reformat HDD, and just installed BF2 and downloaded the 1.41 patch.

Anyway, patching failed. Tried manually installing the patch through the prompt, but, it asks me to insert the disk with data2.cab on it.

Now, this isn't in the tempory folder created on the language screen for the patch.

Can anyone find a way around this?

    Thanks.

P.S - I think Ive read every patch failed topic on this board, but to no avail.

i assume its looking for the data2.cab file on the bf2 cd/dvd, if not that one then perhaps the windows cd itself

So we're saying you need the BF2 CD in to patch it?

That's the problem, my CD is kinda nakared. House move and all that. I installed the game off an image I created when I first bought the game. I'll try it now and see what happens.

Even when the CD is in the drive, and I tell it too look there, I get an error even before patching.

      This only happens when I type c:\patch\patch.exe "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2"

If I just try to run the patch, then it fails like every other time.

      *Sigh*

Why did EA release something that doesnt work on SO many peoples computers?

if your cd is broke and you have a valid key i think EA can send you out replacements but they will charge you for it, and i dont know how long it will take.

But, I had this problem last time. Even when using the Real CD, I couldn't patch.

Just after about 60 trys, I got lucky in safe mode. So I don't think a new cd is gonna help.
