If your still having problems with crashing when pressing 'Join Game' just use the escape key when the join game button is displayed.

Check driver versions for vid cards and sound cards

Do the scans for both Viruses and Adware/Spyware

              Defrag your hard drives

Check the stats on your power supplies. Mine recently went out and was displaying this behavior before it finally died.

                    Re: BF2 crash

If I try to log on to retrive my account in full window setting it CTD with no error message
This is the error message I get if I run the game in a small window setting

                    Debug Assertion Failed
                    Version:1.1.2865.797.0 Build Date: 2006-9-26 17:53

Text: The Request Is Invalid Due To Invalid GameSpy URL
                    Current Confile

I dont know what the hell it means, I have been in contact with EA support and they told me to create a new user admin account on my pc in windows
which I did and then reinstall the game, which I did, and of course it didn't work

                      Re: BF2 crash

im having alot of trouble crashing to desktop when im in game, just random things can trigger it to crash, turning a corner, pressing tab to go to scoreboard, falling a few feet...

i never had this trouble before 1.41, wasnt the 550meg patch supposed to be a cure for game crashes ?

i dont think its on my end

                        Re: BF2 crash

I have been having the same in game problems. They started last week, and now it is so bad that I can't even play the game for more then 10min without a CrashToDesktop. I can log in fine, and get on a server, it is only in game that I get the random crashes.

I have turned off all unneeded processes with taskmanager
I have deleted all:cookies, temp files, Internet files
                        I have check for spyware/Adware/Viruses/Trojans - CLEAN
                        I have defragged Hardrive
I have Deleted the BF2 Folder in MyDocuments
                        I have updated Punkbuster
All my Video/Mobo/BIOS...etc Drivers are most current.

Any other suggestions....with patch 1.3 the above fixed the problem, but it relentless with patch 1.41!!!

                          Re: BF2 crash

Start your Battlefield 2 folder (the one in My documents) from scratch. Just move the current one out of your My Documents and the game will recreate a new one. If there are any corrupted files that we cannot find, they will not be used anymore with the creation of the new BF2 folder. You will need to know your login name and password to redo over again.

Once you confirm if this works, you can move files over from your old folders for the controls and such if you wish.

As a side note, I'd try re-downloading 1.41 from an alternative source and reinstalling it just in case. Sometimes downloads can be nerfed.
