    Anyone having the same problem?

Im having a few problems with BF2 recently and I think its down to my RAM.

Heres my System specs to start with:
    P4 3.4GHz
    1GB RAM
    x1900 GT 256MB Graphics card
    500w PSU
(all drivers and stuff like that are up to date)

I get (what I can only explain as) data loss in game. For example the round will start fine all on high graphics average fps is about 50.

I die and change kit. The gun is black, and zooming in causes the whole screen to go black.

This can also happen to other things like the Black hawks rotor blades which just turn into a big black rotating square above the chopper??

I belive its the RAM becuase I get alot of stuttering flying around in a plane (moving to new areas quickly) wheras land travel seems to be better.

My page file usage when idle is 400MB
When BF2 is running its 1.3GB!!

    So bottom line is:

Do I need to buy some more RAM?

The thread below f**ked up???? not sure what happend plz delete it

    Lower your settings.

Also make sure your computer isn't overheating

Sounds to me like classic artifacting. In other words either your graphic card is overheating or you need to update its drivers.

        Heats not the issue.

63 degrees tops, and I dont overclock any of my stuff anyway.

Lowering the settings may help but I would like to play this game at high settings and Im trying to determine if I got some more RAM it would fix this.

I used to get that when I had an ATI card, I added another gig of RAM and it was better after that. On another note if you have 2 HDD put the page file on the HDD that windows isn't on.

2GB of RAM is a must in BF2 mate IMHO, for me it wasn't really playable with just 1 GB. But I don't think RAM would cause artifacting. 1 GB of RAM with me made it jittery every now and again, obviously when the CPU had to access something from the hard drive instead of the sticks, but it won't make your gun black and the rotors on a chopper appear as how you describe.

Maybe the diode on your GPU is giving you false temperature readings. I'd try and open the side of your case, point a desk fan in it and see if it cures the problem. If it does then it's heat and you need either more airflow or a better case.

If not then I reckon it's your drivers, as I had the same problem, albeit with an NVidia card. Updating them solved it for me.

Never-the-less, get some more RAM anyway!

              Woops ......

ATi brought out some new drivers very recently. I only updated them about a month ago lol.

It seems to have fixed it but I will try it out again later.

And thats a nice idea AckAck I will definatly try that out.

              Thanks for the help guys

A little late but I concur with video card / drivers. Memory wouldn't do that. Page file isn't a problem. I have mine set at recommended by tweakguides.com

Haha, not playable with 1gig of ram, DAMN.... Rich kids... I have 512 ram..... And I play almost everyday, fragging 12-4 K/D ratio....

You're all lucky with your setting maxed to high, 2 gig of ram....

I'll be lucky if I even get 1gig of ram
