Improve My Skills, Whinge Thread of 'Noobie' aid

I try everything to get better. Aim for the head. Use only base weapons (to show uber skills against unlock n00bs). Heightened then lowered sensitivity. Be aggressive, b-e aggressive. None of it works. I see two guys that haven't spotted me, of course, they move their heads at the last second to dodge my secret headshot or the hitboxes just don't line up or they had a squadmate lagging behind them I hadn't spotted that shoots ME in the back or I am teamkilled while they are in combat and I sneak attack them, one or the other. To add to my neverending streaks of noobie deaths, I often huff to myself and my mum, will ALWAYS OVERHEAR and give me a warning about taking the screen for the day or longer, much much indefinite amount of time longer or something of that manner. She's already taken my BF2 installer disc, so now I'm using my SF CD but my computer broke down, won't even start, can't go into safe mode, so don't tell me to. Kovac computers, not the researching company, went outta business so the warranty is F****D! I was planning to upgrade my RAM from 2x 512 MB Kingstons to 1536 MB or 2 GB but I don't have many resources.

    BF2 - Mmm mmm, b***h: http://youtube.com/watch?v=o6dVfnjyCm0
This gamer's a natural. Intuitive and whatnot. My username is jameniye and I commented on it, though don't flame it, I was only subconsciously jealous of his kill streak.

    Torsol's Frag Movie: http://youtube.com/watch?v=kM4G_IaoXr0
I watch him act just like me.

What I'm saying is, help me! I'll try and post up a Fraps video of myself later on, prolly won't cause I'm lazy. I am in the G-Unit clan, tag is .gu. Competing in TWL and CAL. Our website is g-unithq.com I believe, maybe you should just google it.

I remember once, I was speaking on the phone with my friend with my left hand, standing still behind the corner of where the road downhill meets level ground at Train Accident post of Strike at Karkand where I spawned and I killed about 9 peeps easy, though it was a pub server. I only play infantry only now, pretty much.

Scenario, me and another are maybe 50 feet apart? I suck at distance guestimating and so I have an AK-101 maybe and I am shooting in small bursts of about 2-5 shots, letting it settle down after each one but the deviation is unbelievable, (this happens most often with L85A1 though that's only when I pick one up, against my liking). Then, even if I go into single shot, it's almost the same deal, almost. It increases my chance of getting the kill by perhaps 50%. My clanmates are aggressive and go in like the baddest motherf***ers in town.

Different scenario, Me and another on the hills west of the spawn points at Strike at Karkand, USMC, the uncap between Hotel and their main. I futilely fire controlled bursts at them maybe 13 feet away, but neither of us can see each other because a hump of hill is in front of us. Yet, I can see my health bar going down, and so I press CTRL to run sideways and throw a med pack, because God knows it's impossible to kill someone whose hitboxes are moving perpendicular to you. But of course, they are spraying and praying at the air just above me all the time and they hit me as I am hitting SHIFT + W. That's about a 3:5 k/d ratio for every time I try that stunt? If I don't get up, it happens to be an adversary who's aggressive enough to get up and flank or hit me head on and always wins that duel. I'm one of those n00bs you see being chased for maybe 10 seconds through alleyways in frag vids, though in alleyways, I fight a bit better. Oddly enough, it deson't feel good to get this off my chest, more rather reviving feelings of frustration. I'll prolly edit more to this later on. Spell my name right dangit.

P.S. I'm only using the videos as an example and finding out what works is my problem, I can't think of anything else to do but run away in the fashion that I mentioned to heal or fake heal my dropping a med pack and then bursting out unprecedented.

Your trying to play like another person? You need to learn what works and what doesn't and adapt that to your OWN playstyle. Medic is a fantsatic kit because you have the ability to kill with deadly accuracy, gain points by reviving your team mates and even self heal. I use the G36E I think it's called when playing medic, put it on single shot and iron sight while crouched or prone and you take down enemies uber fast.

That's just how I play, it works and my scores reflect that.

If you use the kits as they are named, they work far better.

If you want to get better then don't use a G36E. It'll just pull down your skill since not much aiming and repositioning for the aim has to be done. Just don't use unlocks

Try and play on Infantry servers you guys in the US got WAIB etc? That will help a lot or Battlefield.no #08 where I used to play at. Helped me a lot. But yes you don't want to act like another person.

Just try and see what works and do some testing with weapons etc. where to exactly hit etc. etc.

The first video that guy is doing a lot of spraying and praying, I use single shot a lot, especially if they are mid to far away. If anyone is closer than 50 I don't bother with iron sights, they don't increase accuracy. Move, move, move, don't worry about the little girls calling you bunnyhopper, they'll be the ones staring at the critically wounded screen. And being aggressive isn't always the best idea, patience is a virtue.

Playing smart > rambo...especially if your clan intends on competing.

Sometimes rambo is the only answer though. Yesterday I ran out of ammo for my ak-101 and my pistol so I hopped around with my knife killing 5 people that were trying to cap a flag.

Re: Improve My Skills, Whinge Thread of 'Noobie' aid

There are a countless number of ways most players can improve. I am going to outline the main things that have helped me in the past.

            1. A very important thing to do is make sure you are not moving at all when you are shooting except at very close range. When you go prone to fire, make sure you are not pressing strafe or move foward/backwards.

            2. Lean to counter recoil. This is especially important for the m16. The three round burst of the m16 can kill someone in one shot, but only if you hit them with all three bullets. Whenever you shoot a 3 round burst the gun will recoil a little bit. If you can learn to counter that recoil perfectly you can be deadly with it.

            3. You need to use single shot from long range every time. It is more accurate, period.

            4. Lower your sensitivity. BF2 is a very long range game compared to other games and the low sensitivity pays off. Make sure you have a very large mouse pad. If you dont have one you can order them off newegg or you can just tape down a magazine which works pretty well. In order to play with low sensitivity you have to learn to use your entire forearm; you can't just rotate your wrist.

            5. Buy a better mouse. They make a huge difference. I suggest the logitech g5 but the logitech mx518 and razor mice work very well too. Basically every good player in CAL uses a gaming mouse. They are much more precise and responsive.

            6. Run at the highest fps possible. Screw shadows. Screw lighting effects. If you arn't runing at 80fps, you are at a dissadvantage. Getting owned with pretty textures isn't fun no matter how good it looks. Even if you have a really good comp, turn off the shadows so that you can see people better. You setting should be as such: 800x600 75hz, low terrain, high geometry (allows you to see people far away), medium effects (allows you to see the noob toob trails and thus be more effective with them), view distance 100%, everything else on low. Also, make sure you turn off all anti-virus and other unneeded programs while you are playing. Do a defrag and a spyware scan. Reformat if you havent in awhile.

            7. Learn to be AWARE. Awareness is a key skill. Awareness means you are constantly checking every corner, every window, and every doorway in search of your enemy. A good way to do this is to turn your sound off completely. It will force you to do a better job of this. This leads me to my next point.

            8. Sound can have devistating effects on a player. It is common knowledge that when people go blind they can hear better. The same kind of concept applies in this case. If your sound is really loud, it will affect your gameplay. Loud sound is very distracting. Loud sounds can make you jumpy, they can freak you out, which is something you never want. You should find that when you turn off your sound as I suggested above your reactions will increase dramatically. Unfortunately, sound is needed in some situations, thus you cannot turn it off completely. I suggest you turn it down very low and most of all make sure you are not listening to it much except when you have to.

            9. Learn to control your mind. There are two things you can do to yourself when playing that will have catastrophic effects on your play: getting angry or getting excited. Anger above all is the worst. It will make you lose your focus and play like crap. I use to get very excited before my CAL matches and it had very bad effects on me. When you get excited you get jumpy, you get tense. That is not the way to play. When you play BF2 you want to make sure you have a slow heart rate, you want to be calm, cool, relaxed, and fluid. When you are playing your best it is as if you are in a zen-like trance. You cannot try to MAKE yourself quick by getting tense, you have to relax and trust yourself. This trace thing is very important. What helps me is listening to music with my sound off while playing. I find it makes me calm and loose.

            10. Be confident. No one can do anything they don't believe they can do. It isn't a coincidence good players often have big egos. You have to believe in yourself to accomplish anything.

            11. I almost forgot, make sure you dont zoom in too much. You really should only zoom in at pretty long rangers. Zooming in when someone is pretty close to you is very stupid and if that person does an evasive movement you are ****ed. (PS I think this might is some pubbers have such a hard time dealing with BHers) Zooming in doesnt increase you accuracy at all, so only do it when you need to.

I would also suggest you watch some other good frag videos like duck&cover in perticular.

I hope this helps you and anyone else who reads it.
