For all the guys here that said they like new gunner, believe me it is really appreciated! Keep up the good work. Because of guys like you, noob gunners like me got the chance to improve their skills and become decent gunners :)

main thing is, AT LEAST YOU TRY TO USE THE TV MISSILE!!!

most of the *******es that manage to get in the chopper with me spend all their time shooting the chaingun at tanks and helicopters, even when i put the target in a perfect place for them to shoot.

i can kill more tanks and choppers on my own :/

Lol you have no idea how many people I redline sometimes. If I get pilot and someone gets gunner, I'll give them a shot. But usually what happens is as soon as we lift off he shoots a rocket off into the water and then starts randomly firing his chain gun.. then that’s when I turn around and get his *** out. It's more of a hassle for me dealing with his incompetence so I say fuk it and take him out.

well i have had a few of those rounds usally the guys is an expert chopper and is an expert at that map i cant fly that good but i can fly so im still learing the ropes.

i spawn first so get the chopper to myself 99% of the time so i get to choose and pick someone i know is good, or just go alone.
when u do get a numpty i say bail out and most of the time they do, if they dont i get them bored, rarely have to redline players, but there are some people that i'd redline even when i know theyre good, but their griefers so deserve it.

p.s if u ever come across flamekahn, redline him :)

Always good to see veteran pilots cutting noobs a bit of slack. Far too often I see Majors redlining people because they don't have the right rank.

To the two above guys. Don't redline players, ever. You're a detriment to the BF2 community and it's frankly the act of an arrogant, selfish arsehole.

I have over 300 hours in the chopper and maybe 100 is gunning, I used to fly alot and was never good with gunning till the end of 1.3 patch or something

I have to admit, choppers are getting boring

you would redline the guy i mentioned if you had ever played with him. and i said its done rarely, i probably havent even done it 10 times!! and when it was done, it was because they were complete tossers.

I absolutely agree. That's why running around and firing a rifle takes so much more skill than learning to balance flight and weapons systems. Finally, those poor, misunderstood ground units get our acknowledgement...

I try to teach new gunners too, but there's always the awful moment when you line someone up for a perfect TV shot and get nothing or just guns... DOH! :wall:

VOIP makes learning 10 times easier for new gunners. If they can't hit the other helos or AAs with the TV, then it makes for some exciting rides to stay alive (1st stop after taking off is the drug store drive through for Depends and Air Sick Bags...) It is amazing how fast they catch on given good shots and a little advice. It means you have to set up a lot of straight on shots to start with, and work up to guiding the rocket after you get them a few kills for confidence. Good pilots (one's who truely know how to gun themselves) can set up a rookie so that he doesn't have to guide it much at all. All pilots need to spend some time in the front seat to learn how to best set up gunners. Then you just fly as if you were the gunner to set up the shots. Manouvers are timed to allow the rocket to reload, so that the gunner just gets moved from shot to shot.

PLEASE, new gunners, join the same squad as the pilot so you guys can talk. If you don't know how to TV, tell the pilot so he can tell you what to do and fly accordingly. The pilot should be calling out targets and telling you either MISSLE or GUNS. If you see a target call it out...
