Is it normal for the text in BF2 to be a little blurry with an LCD?

I just got a new LCD monitor and was using a CRT before. WOW it's amazing but some text looks a little blurry and i play with my native rez 1280x1024@75Hz.
This is the highest i can go and why can't I use a higher refresh rate such as 85Hz because i could on my CRT before. I can't go any higher then 75Hz, why?

Max refresh rate is limited by your monitor. If your LCD's max refresh rate is 75hz, then it won't go up to 85hz, the same as if your LCD has three buttons, then it doesn't have four--even if your CRT does.

yea certain monitors have certain refresh rates, resoultion matters also. plus they say it works differently in lcds then crts

I heard that because the LCD's don't "pulse" like the CRT's do, refresh rates are not as important. To me it makes sense because the change from 60 to 70 on a CRT is very noticeable whereas at 60 on my LCD, I don't notice any pulse whatsoever soooooo I just keep mine at 60.

Is any of this true?

Ok, but what about the blurry text??? Especially the score list. In some words i can see horizontal lines " | " like this xxx|xxx and blur.

did u try hitting the auto-adjust?

and what videocard do u have/ wat drivers ru using
and what are u using to connect ur monitor to ur videocard...dvi or vga cable

Does it matter what sort of cable you use? My DVI cable failed (yes, I'm sure), so I plugged in the vga cable. Am I missing our on some oober-leet experience?

I really hadn't noticed the diff. :)

im not totally sure..dvi is suppose to be sharper and help with the ghosting effect that lcd monitors have. but to be honest, icant really tell a difference

What rez do you use???

Doesn't matter what i turn on/off i still get this corrupted text blur. I was using 1280x1024(the recommended native rez) but lowered it down to 1024x768 and the text looked sharper, however this isn't the native rez which is ironic. I should be able to play at 1024x768 without this corrupted blurry text. Is this normal or not and what can i do to fix this?

What monitor did you buy?

Do a newegg.com search for your monitor and check out the reviews on it. No offense but you may have just bought a cheap crappy monitor or one that came out of a bad batch. Same thing happenned to me so I did the same thing and quickly exchanged my monitor for a better one. I am MUCH happier now. BTW mine is a 19" NEC Multisync 90GX2. VERY NICE!!!!

I have the same problem sometimes, in bf2 it's fine but in 2142 the console text is blurry :hmm: .

I guess most of you guys changed Anti-Aliasing trough a control panel like Nvidia's one or ATi's? Heard that it causes most things to blur even console text.

I have exact the same problem! As example somebody's name contains the letter A (Which also is the only letter where it happens too) then I get this sort of things:

Just a random name A|viator it's really stupid looking and I also get it with some things in my menu as the score list etc. Not that much of a problem but it is a little one which I would like to see fixed.

I tend to notice this when I have AA forced through the video card control panel. When set in-game, I usually don't see it, but it could just be that I forgot... I haven't played BF2 in a while.
