    Playing for fun

First I'd like to tell you a story.
Every time I play on Dalian Plant and choose SpecOps it's a blast.
It makes no difference if I'm Chinese or USMC. Getting all the way to enemy assets is always difficult, but so entertaining at the same time.
Let's say I'm Chinese. The obvious target is the USMC artillery island.
So I grab a transport chopper and fly there, assuming my J10 pilots are keeping the air relatively safe.
Once I'm on the island, I use all my C4 and then I start the waiting game.
Obviously, the enemy is not going to suffer me near their 'precious' for long. So here comes the first raid in a transport chopper.
Fortunately, the AA site is the best feature on the island and I love to use it.
The chopper is so tough, eating my 2 missiles and still flying. But a bad move from its pilot and down it goes! Two people killed. Ha-ha! Try again, buster!
It’s not long and I see another chopper flying towards me. I fire two missiles, then I wait for reload. So slow, but I manage to hit again right in front of me. I get the kill, but the wreckage drops over my head and I'm dead, too. Eh! No problem.
I spawn at the main base and hop in the chopper. Great deeds are awaiting me!
I take the same route to the island. When I'm almost there, the arty is starting to devastate the island, almost hitting me. Nice welcome! But I survive.
I blow up the remaining arty, then I wait for the repercussions. Their commander must be a wise man, because I don't get a supply box on the island.
Again, a chopper is slowly coming. I pop two missiles, but it's already over the island and the pilot jumps out.
He's just an engy trying to repair his toys. What could an engy do against my G36C, anyway?! He throws a couple of grenades at me, I take cover and then I kill him from a distance. By now, he must be pissed. :p
I'm still standing on the island, like a king on his domain.
I see a boat coming. Hmm, that's a change! What makes him think it's better this way?!
I get out of the SAM site and take position near the cabin on the beach.
When the boat is almost at the beach, I send him a grenade. He jumps out right when the grenade explodes, killing him instantly. Too easy!
Another boat is heading at the island. I leave the AA site in a hurry and hide near the beach cabin again.
This time, he changes his strategy. He stops the boat and starts to fire the MG. Unsuccessful, I must say, because the MG is so inaccurate at greater distances. Unlike my gun. After a couple of precise shots, he's dead.
Well, to keep this story short, the same thing happens a couple of times more, before the end. I guess I was standing there almost the entire round, defending my island!
Now let me ask the question.
Obviously, everybody plays for fun. But getting this fun is different: some people like to kill, other people want to get lots of points. Me, I enjoy doing extraordinary things. Whenever I get to do something out of the ordinary, I have the best time in this game. :)
So where do you get your fun from?
(If you think it’s appropriate, this post could be moved to war tales)

I was sitting on the mountain of arty island in a chopper and switching to TV missile and base raping the carrier.

I know it's wrong but it was awfully fun.

For me the fun part is when i blow up someone with c4 when i really wasnt planing on killing anything. like if put c4 on a car walk away for 30 secs then i blow it up getting a kill.

My fun is... a combination of points and teamplay.
I like getting tons of points through grounpounding with a decent squad, working with each other, helping each other etc, with an assault kit usually. Or support / medic. Like jalalabad IO for instance :)

                Great writing btw

                  Re: Playing for fun

Thanks, I'm glad you liked my story.
To be honest, I was expecting a lot more people to share their happy moments and their ways to have fun.
After all, this is what we're playing for, isn't it?
I'd like to share another story with you.
It happens on the same map, Daliant Plant. This time I'm playing as USMC:
Having the advantage of being 8 guys vs. just 6 Chinese, half the round later we are controlling all the flags.
By now most of my team is driving some vehicle.
We have 2 tanks, 2 jets and 2 choppers. Me, I have an APC.
Just as I'm getting out of the hanger, my commander ask for a ride (after winning a fight with some guy in a buggy).
I wait for him, he jumps in and I start driving to the next flag. Nothing to do here, my team is already there.
-Enemy sniper! I hear a scream, making me jump off my driving seat.
-Where? Where? I ask myself, then I see the red dot on the map, near me. I turn the APC around and soon I find the sniper hiding behind a building. I kill him with a couple of shots.
So far so good, I keep driving to the next flag. Then to the next flag. There is nothing to do.
I keep patrolling around, then I realize the importance of the situation: my commander is in the back, using my vehicle as a mobile base of tactical operations!
If only we would have an intercom available inside the vehicle:
-Where would you like to go, Sir?
-Take me closer to the front lines, sergeant. -Yes, Sir!
-Where's my binoculars? I want to take a closer look on the battlefield.
-Here it is, Sir. -Thank you, son.
I have the most important job in my team: I take care of my commander!
So I keep spending time driving around the central area of the map, being extremely careful not to disturb my commander, while he is using his laptop for issuing orders. Every now and then, an enemy is coming in a tank, or a chopper, but very soon, my team's combined fire power makes him retreat or he is destroyed.
-Enemy sniper! Screams again my commander.
                  -Where? Where?
I change my direction again and very soon, I kill the sneaky sniper, who is trying to cap a rear flag.
I return to the front line. My team is doing an efficient blockade. We have a couple of supply boxes scattered strategically around. No matter what it comes through, we are holding the lines.
Except this one: a buggy comes in a hurry. Everybody is shooting at it, but he slips thru.
I'm closer to him than any of my mates, so I pursue him. I find the buggy destroyed on the side of the road. Hmm...
–Enemy sniper! My commander is all knowing and I have him with me!
I find the poor sniper again and he's dead meat in a second.
At this point, I have to say: this is one stubborn sniper! How many times I have to kill him until he realize he should pick another kit? AT perhaps?! :p
Being so much confident in our victory, I drive the "APC one" closer to the fire.
                  What could happen wrong, anyway?!
Another fast buggy gets through the lines. My guys don't even care to hunt him anymore, they are happy to hold the ground and just shoot at people.
Here I come to the rescue!
I have a fast APC, unlike their "fat" tanks. I speed up and chase him. He is tricky, taking the fastest route to the farthest flag. I suspect he's the same sniper I killed earlier.
Surprise, surprise! When I get there, he is waiting for me in an APC. We start to fight, but he takes cover inside the hanger, coming in and out for a couple of well aimed shots. After his first rocket hits our APC, my commander jumps out and hides. Smart move!
There is always a lesson to be learn in any fight. I should have learned it long ago:
No cover = Death. The sniper is not so bad after all…
                  The end.
I had such a good time that round.
I always enjoy reading these kind of stories, which makes one person see thru someone else's eyes and experience the same fun.
                  Until next time…

                    Re: Playing for fun

Probably not as interesting but I was quite chuffed with this being a noobie and all.

Got my Special Forces kit (MEC) on in Karkand and stormed over to the USMC Artillary points.

Planted C4 on the artillary peices on both sides of the road. Then planted one in the middle of the road and took cover by the AT emplacment by the wall and rocks on the left side of the map.

I waited for a tank to come trundaling by and set of the charges. Two guns destroyed and a tank badly damaged.

To my delight the tanky stops and starts looking around so I jump on the AT gun and take him out. I was pretty delighted with that job!:)

what i love, is playing jalabad and being sniper(i know, thats just like everyone else) but, then ill wait for a bit, and look at the ranking screen to see who on the other team is doing the best with the sniper rifle, then, doing the thing i do, i hunt him for the rest of the round. ive actually benn banned from 2 clan servers(wont say which) becasue ive hounded the wrong guy all game. it really pisses people off.

                          Re: Playing for fun

Had a good one on Kirkand I/O the other day. Chose sniper and made a bolt for the furthest MEC flag on the East side where the corrogated fence surrounds the flag.

Figured that no one would be there defending it as they were all shooting the **** out of each other on the west side by the USMC spawn point.

I took one claymore and placed it by the small opening and the second on the corner of the building by the large opening. Then I tucked myself in the corner of the building, as I know that as soon as the flag turns nuetral someone is coming for me with nades.

The flag goes nuetral and a few seconds later the nades start arriving with very little effect. The next thing BANG 'you killed so and so' and I change location to behind the oil tank. Bang 'you killed so and so' again and after what seemed like a 5 minute wait the flag finally turns USMC.

I think I p***ed this guy off though, because he came back again and chased me round a bit and did me in. As I'm laying there he leans over and emptys a full magazine in my face, oh how I laughed:laugh:

I resporne and to my surprise no one on my side has taken advatage of the new flag to open up a second front. I therefore inform them that the flag is still operational but there is very little time. Still no one takes up the offer and the flag turn neutral

The most fun Ive had latley is since in installed the SF pack...I dont remember what map I was on...but I was capping a flag...and I had used my grappling hook to get on top of a building so I was out of sight yet still taking the flag...well anyway...3 of the enemy come running up as the flag turns whie. I pop the first one in the head and he drops. The other two start spinning and firing. They have no idea where I am. I pop another one in the head, He drops. The 3rd guys is now prone, doing circles emptying mag after mag. Im having to much fun now...so I shoot him in the back...he gets up moves about 15 feet, and prone again...I hit him in the back 3 times before killing him. None of them had any idea where I was. So much fun
