    Dual Core crash problems

First of all, I've searched this forum for about 30 minutes to try and find something related to my problem and havn't been able to find anything. So if I suck at searching and it has already been said before, well my bad.

I've heard that BF2 doesn't really like dual core systems and I read in another thread that there were ways to fix this (why I was searching) and havn't been able to find anything. When loading an online server only my computer will 90% of the completely crash and either reboot itself or bring up The Blue Screen. The 10% of the time it does load I can play perfectly normal until it starts to load the map again where it will most probably crash.

I'm just wondering if this is related to dual core at all or if it is another problem. I have checked all sticks of RAM, reformatted about 6 times, re-installed BF2 about 5 times, tried all different sorts of video drivers, played the game on all different settings, run spyware/adware/virus programs and removed anything, defragged about 3 times, tried my BF2 DVD on the laptop (which isn't dual core and played BF2 perfectly normal), checked temperature of computer and cleaned it out and all fans are moving. I've probably done more but I can't think of anything else right now.

How would I go about fixing this dual core problem as I read that there were many fixes. If I can tick dual core off the list as not being a problem well then I can blame some other piece of hardware/software...

And does osaio.sys mean anything to any of you? That keeps popping up on The Blue Screen when I get it.

    Sys Specs:
    OS: XP Pro
    Intel P4 3GHz (Hyper Threading)
    2GB RAM
    256MB Nvidia 6600GT
(If you need to know something else ask and ill find it..)

    Thanks
    Ash

    Re: Dual Core crash problems

Some people were having problems with osaio.sys.

I haven't heard of crashes from dual core. It's more of an FPS (frames per second, not first person shooter) issue.

For dual core hotfix from M$, check here, post 13.
