Re: Headset
Due to size and shape of heads and ears, my suggestion is to go to a local musical instrument store and check out the headsets there. I found a killer set of Panasonic that because of their cupped and cushioned design (and stereo output) I have comfort and 360' hearing awareness in game for hours.
I paid a whopping $35 for the headset. I use a separate very large mic (bought from the same place) and my voice is just a wee bit louder than most in game. The mic is attached to a mic stand that angles and hangs it off to my side like a boom. $50 for the mic and stand.

Re: Headset
i have a bluetooth setup, got a blueant x3 earpiece and a bluetoth USB dongle, not good if u want a headset for sound but the mic works great plus u can set up skype so use the speaker in the ear piece so you dont have to be at your computer to talk on skype, find that handy when playing on BF2 with mates .. only downside is that it can be expensive but as u said money is no issue
