    Help with card upgrade issues

I just upgraded my video card from an ATI x800 GTO 128mb to an Nvidia 7900 GS 256, thinking that I would have high settings accross the board in 1280x1024, with great frame rates, and have had nothing but choppy stretched screen lag even using 1024x768 since the install.....

I had very smooth gameplay with the x800 in all medium settings and I feel I should be smoking with the very fast 7900 gs. When I installed the new card I used Driver Cleaner first removing any ATI files....Any suggestions ?? Here are my system specs..

    AMD 3200+ 2.2 ghz
    1.5gb Kingston Ram
    PNY 7900 GS 256mb PCIe
    ULTRA 500w PSU
    160gb Hard drive
    MSI RS480 socket 754 MOBO

Thanks Scinto, can you tell me what effect deleting the cache files will have? Do you know what the best Nvidia driver would be for the 7900 GS?

That is the folder that every time you have to go through the "optimizing shaders", the info is saved. the problem is that every time it happens it creates a new folder in there with a name like this,

        {D7B71E3E-43B1-11CF-4D53-5A1103C2CB35}_2965_1

get enough of them in there and when you load the game it starts to read from all of them, and has a negative impact on game performance. Makes it a good idea to go in and delete those folders anytime that you have made any in game video settings changes, or any time you change your video drivers.

Thanks for the help guys it really made a big difference....I am still getting some lag however but not nearly as bad....with the 7900 gs I am running all high settings except for anti aliasing 0.........do you think the 1.5 gb of ram is holding me up a bit?

And can someone tell me the best driver available for the 7900 gs?

if your lagging a bit take the Dynamic shadows/lighting down to medium they should reduce the lag,
