Ok, I'm new to BF2 but it seems like I'm doing very little damage to other players yet I'm getting killed with like one shot. Yet, it seems like I've gotta hit another player like a million times for them to die.... any help?

umm, go prone...
Maybe take vehicles until you get a good unlock.
Go read the huge tips and tricks thread.
zoom in (right click) with your gun and find out where the bullets are actually going (most don't have crosshairs)
re-arrange your keyboard to make playing easier.Comment

I got the game two months ago and only recently started getting like 25-35 kills a match (with a gun, no spamming or exploits) and at the beginning I was like you, wondering how i dont kill anyone, but eventually you will get it and you have to make sure to go prone instantly, and make sure to get headshots.
And make sure to use tactics, like sneaking up on people.Comment

I honestly HATE people who immediatly go prone when they see someone, its just annoying and to easy.
Unless your support, its REALLY annoying, then again..everyones support. Whenever ui don't play support, I don't prone, I just quickly bring up my ironsights and fire, and I can hold my own(When I first started I sucked), I can go, meh, 19-8, 17-6, 20-11, around there now.
If I'm sniping, I can go around 9-2.
So, to the OP, if you want to get a decent amount of kills without dieing alot, become an extreme range sniper...basicly..you snipe people at long ranges, and they can't shoot back, and every now and then, go find a 24/7 Karkand or Jalalalalabad and practice running n' gunning. When running in guning, always aim for the upper torso, not middle, upper if you can, but if the person is like most people, just aim at the ground and start firing. Chances are, 1second later, there head will be there (Proners..)Comment

Also be aware that there are massive issues in BF2 in regards to hitboxes. I sat there reloading my MG36 while being pounded by a G36C 2 feet in front of me thinking I was going to get hit but I didn't lose a single bit of health.Comment

There's nothing wrong with going prone, especially as a new guy... I think it makes you an easier target than moving L-R or just kneeling (way under used), but it gives you the most accurate aim.
Definitely go to the sites or scope, unless the target is close.
Rearranging the keyboard for easier access to often used keys is a great suggestion.
Try to find ambush spots around enemy spawns at medium distance and practice with siting in head shots. Unless you have a high powered weapon you won't hurt assault guys much by hitting them in the chest where they have protection.
A lot of people don't like the way the basic medic weapons only fire 3-round bursts, but it's good training for focusing you aiming. If you're using the suport kit you'll be a lot more accurate with a prone position firing 3-round bursts.Comment

You don't need unlocks to get kills. AK-101/47, RPK-74, and M16 are the main weapons I use. The pump shotguns rule if you are really close, aim for the upper torso. Whenever I aim for the head with them some of the buckshot hits, andOriginally posted by lethal_ranger

You can snipe with the RPK-74 or SAW if you practice, fire in mall bursts, readjust your aim and burst again. There are so many bullets hitting so fast even if just half your bullet hit then the dude will go down.
Use the SVD from mid range when a assault goes prone about 40% or less of his bullets might hit you from mid range, but with the SVD 100% of your bullets will hit him.
Spec ops guns are pea shooters at close range. Use the scopes to use them at mid range. In close quarters engineer, assault, support, and medic are the best.Comment

if you just lay on the trigger button you wont hit sh**. Prone and kneeling are the best positions, use semi or short burst and semi while standing...unless your support then prone is the best.
Make sure blanks arent selected under your options and live ammo is. Also the purple rihno is a great weapon and at mcdonalds the 20 pcs nugget meal is great with fries and large chocolate shake.Comment

if you hit the 3 button while your rifle is out (in effect, choosing your rifle again), you can switch firing modes
try to use the semi-auto mode. You're much more accurate that way.Comment

some weapons have a 1sk if its a headshot, maybe thats why, altho i dont think its possible with the G36-C that happened to me like 4 times yesterday ... >.<Comment

Don't worry. It happens on a busy, many player server 48-64. There is so many bullets flying around, random nades, and random splash damage from other things, that it appears you die in one shot, when in most cases it's everything happening around you that is contributing to your quick death.Originally posted by Bloodyfinger
I know this from observing while playing many, many hours of BF2. I never have a 'die in one-shot' problem when I'm on 32 man or less servers, since there is 1/2 of the random damage happening around you.
On a 64 player server, most of my deaths are from random nades. I get naded and claymored to death on those servers. I don't know why, but I'm a nade and claymore magnet, my average score on maps like Karkand would be 5-25 (cause I dont throw nades myself), but on smaller maps I'll be like 85-5 when I have a chance to breathe, and actually have a good firefight 1 vs 1 or even 1 vs 4+. Probably less lag, better ping contributes as well.Comment
