ive got an alright system
6600gt
amd athlon xp 2400+
1.5gb ram
gigabyte mobo - not sure but begins with ga
xp home sp2
firewall.antivirus zone alarm but turned off
spyware ad-aware but turned off

bf2 runs at about 15 fps on all low settings on any resolution whether windowed or not - no adware spyware viruses
defragged hdd
lots of free space on hdd
no backround app
low ping less than 10 mostly
help it shouldnt be so crap

By having the settings all on LOW this means the game is running off the CPU more than the GPU, try running some settings on medium & some high, ie i have the top 3 of high, then the rest on medium, but have dynamic light off & no AA @ 1280x1024 and averag 42 fps, also my specs are closwe to yours, Also you might want to use the Nvidia 84.21 drivers.

Why do you suggest the old 8x.xx drivers rather than the newest 9x.xx ones?

I used to have that CPU, my PC used to freeze alot. I done some research and apparently they are bad for over heating (which mine was). You might want to check your temps.

8x.xx drivers are best for 6series cards.
9x.xx are more for 7 series cards.

PS i used to get around 30-40FPS (med settings) with a system close to yours. When was the last time you opened your case? I bet your CPU fan is clogged with dust.

make sure to clear out ur cache filse

and the 80s series drivers are better than the 90s because they sortof stopped adding improvements in the 90s and so newer drivers wont help ur card, and ive found the 90s drivers to be slower on my 6800gt

Go to,

C:\Documents and Settings\Yourname\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

and delete all folders you find in the cache folder, not the cache folder itself.

P.S. Good idea to do this every time you make any settings or driver changes.

Also a good idea to make sure your motherboard drivers are up to date, especially the AGP/GART driver.

Also defrag your HDD regulary, i do it every 2 weeks.
