The reason Air vehicles try to take out AAV's is explained in your question. Because tanks and APC's feel no threat from them. It's hard to type while your flying, let alone use VOIP because most likely your squadmates aren't in the tank/APC right next to the AAV.

As for the guy trying to come back and kill you, don't you think it's much more worth it to kill you and take the flag then spawn at some other point and let you take it?

Rethink your playstyle, because it's completely flawed.
    I found this so true.
Btw, DEFEND mean anything to you?

I find it easier to just freakin avoid them when I'm in the air. I can see your logic in taking out your biggest threat....but this is a video game. Those threats respawn. If you're in a chopper and a skilled player in an AAV takes you out 4 out of 5 times, why keep going back? You're efforts can better be utilized going after another target.

Hi! My name is RESPAWN TIME and I am your friend! Once they're down, you keep them down... simple. You're not skilled in an AA, as there is almost no skill involved in the process: this nitpicking aside, you might get lucky once or twice against a good chopper but it won't happen often. If it's anything like when I'm playing alone or with a teammate, we just flare while pointing in your direction and the last thing you see is a TV coming at you.

Another example of similar logic would be employed when commanding. You have a squad of guys listening for your orders. There's 4 bases available to cap. 3 of the bases are heavy with enemies, but one is empty. As commander, I send my squad to the base with the least resistance, which makes an easier flag capture. Unless you're in it for the # of kills, which I guess a lot of players are, the match is easier to win if you lessen your chance of getting killed.

Some bases are NOT WORTH TAKING; others are important only to bleed tickets. For example, it's more important for the USMC to take Reactor Tower than Docks on Dalian... yet, people always go for Docks. Go figure...

I never said I didn't understand the logic, I just wonder why people chose the conflict which gets them killed more often than not.
Might I suggest that you re-think your strategies and justifications?

          lmfao

To avoid being kill when in AAV, get out when in threat, and planes lose thise lock on you, if a helicopter with good piolet after you, just dont challenge it unless you happen to be by a anti aircraft thing and do a quick attack.

The longer you stay in an AAV the more vunerable you become. Think of it as if your attention seeking :p

Well to address the second point first, I find AAV's are terribly easy to kill as even just a marginal pilot, and I love to ruin their day.

I have never checked my stat, but I'm sure I kill at least 4 times the AA that kills me.

              And for the other point.

Yup, it sure can be amusing to defend the same flag (or camp it), from the same guy, ten times in a row, but I also have changed the tide of a game by being "That Guy".

Many times if I join a server and get stuck on the losing team with one base left, I make a point to avoid the fight, and take the long road to a distant flag (preferably not a core base, cuz the flags drop too slow).

Once there, I will try to cap the flag, and defend it to the death many times for 1 reason; It diverts some of the enemy resources away from my pinned down teammates, and allows them to repel or escape.

I have seen several hopeless rape fests turn suddenly after this tactic was used successfully. Within 3-5 minutes, multiple flags have been capped and the game evens out again.

I once even achieved a 140+ ticket rebound to win when a couple of good players squadded up on me after recognizing what I was doing, and we ended up pulling a complete reversal in less than 5 minutes.

If I kill him before capping the flag, he'll respawn in the flag radius to go after me. I usually kill that person again, and again, if flag isn't capped yet, he'll respawn, DEAD SET on killing me, usually only to get killed again. If I do get the flag capped, he'll spawn at the closest base and make his way to come kill me, totally disregarding any team goals. This process will usually be repeated in infinity, or until the guy has too far to walk or has no vehicles to get to me. It happens so much, I start preying on these guys and rack up the kills.
This is called flag defense. I always defend a flag against the enemies before leaving the base to cap another. I will respawn if needed and obliterate any would-be captors. Am I successful all the time? Probably not. Sometimes the capper gets lucky and pops me in the back of the head when I spawn. But that doesn't make me a stupid person, nor he an exceptionally skilled player either. Most others will simply let you take the flag, but I will not - I will die, repeatedly if necessary, to stop or slow you from capping that flag. If I return from another base to the one you just took, I'm just now becoming the attacker, and my aim is to get back the flag. You just happen to be better than these players you speak of, if they die so much to you doing it. I'm a little more clever in my attacks, and won't be 'your prey' so easily.

Because I become a better player because of it, and after awhile, I get killed less by them, and after more time, I become a Master at dealing with it. That's why some of us are 'dumb' enough to subject ourselves to players with superior skill, so that we can learn (get frustrated at times), and get better.

I have a serious need to win, so I don't understand how players such as yourself can preach 'just run away'. Bravery against extreme odds is fine in a game, you have nothing to lose, and only skill to gain. So why the hell not run in guns a-blaring and see what happens?

Chill dude, Battlefield is about knowledge, reflex times and luck. Not about tell your auto biography.
Basically you are on the right linems but all that could be summed up in two lines. The people who care about winning do not turn out with the better scores, maybe not even the best kill deaths, but they mean a lot more to a team than someone who runs in kills 3 people, dies and his 3 victims all get a revive.

I often wonder what my K/D ration would be like without revives, tbh i wouldnt want to know lol.

Hey don't be so harsh on me. I'm the team player, that was supposed to be my point. My points are usually worse than most, since I spend more of my time defending flags. In consequence, I usually die more often because of artillery, choppers shooting me in the back of the head, multiple enemies coming at me, or I'm fighting tanks. Don't read more into my statement than what is simply written.

While I agree people do a lot of predictable things. I can't tell you how many times I got a defend flag with my knife because people always lay in the same places to cap flags. With that said. I am never worried about being killed. That is part of the fun. I have gone after people time and time again. Only to be killed 4 or 5 times. But when I kill them that sixth time it is that much more satisfying. Plus challenging people that are better then you will help make you a better player. I like to compare it to football. I played football to hit people. But I didn't mind getting hit too. That was part of the fun. Bounce right up and come back for more. I play FPS to kill people. But I don't mind being killed and will put my virtual body on the line trying to kill kill kill. :)

aav are usually the easiest armor to take out because tanks and apcs will run from you but aav try to get ballsy and not move and get taken out

Good opening post. Heres the answer to your question:
BF2, like any game, has become a tradition to a player. They log in and have a non-stressful casual fragfest. Nobody likes extra pressure in the form of thinking.
