So I was out at Best Buy today, and they had an ATI Radeon X1600 pro 512mb video card for $100 dollars and I bought it. My old card is a ATI Radeon 9800 pro 128mb. Am I going to notice a difference on my games?

Re: New video card
Oh, because on Planetbattlefield forums, they are saying the card I just bough (Radeon X1600 pro) is not as good as the 9800 pro 128mb. I was like WTF!
So, I've had Quake 4 for a while, but it was too choppy on my old card. Could this new one run it well? And how bout BF2, what setting would you recommend? Oh BTW, its AGP, if that makes a difference?Comment

Re: New video card
yeh its a fair amount faster
i would say x1.5 faster than the older card
plus it has HDR and SM 3.0 which is usefulComment

Re: New video card
It's not a bad card, especially for $100. ati's newest revision is a x1650PRO (450mhz core, 1300mhz GDDR3 memory), which is more like a scaled down x1800 (near-performance card) than the older x1600Pro (400mhz core, 800mhz GDDR2 memory), which is more like a scaled up x1300.
This is a link that cloaker posted from a previous thread:

Re: New video card
You're in luck. Last night, Tweaks R Us just came out with Cat 6.11 drivers that are optimized for BF2. Read the FAQ there for instructions on a clean install if you haven't done it before (easy stuff), but up-to-date drivers are crucial and the tweaked WarCat 6.11s are the soup du jour.Comment
