Can't create multiplayer account

Reinstalled BF2, applied 1.41 patch. Already had punkbuster updated. Pointed it to my BF2 install dir and BF2.exe. Added required ports to my firewall(blackice).

Opened BF2, created multiplayer account, entered user, password, email, and waited forever, like 30 minutes with the '2' cursor just spinning but nothing else happening. Worse is I couldn't exit, while I'm aware it didn't freeze, ctrl+alt+delete won't minimize BF2 to taskbar('2' just kept spinning), forcing power off won't do either, alt+tab, arrghh! so I had to hard reset

What could I be doing wrong?! I've also tried to not create online, used my offline account, went to 'join whatever' clicked update servers, nothing came up.

I've already read the tutorial here, nothing seemed to help. I've never tried multiplayer yet, so I really don't know what to do. Otherwise, I got no problems with single player. Everything is ok, I just can't create an MP account, need help, thanks

Intel P4 2.6ghz HT, d865PERL mobo(don't allow OC ), nvidia 7300GT OC, 10gig free disk space on a 40 gig hard drive and Windows XP SP2. Connectivity: cellular 3G @384kbps. Ping: in MSDOS, I registered 'no loss' I got no problems and performance issues in single player, just can't connect.

Also using BlackIce firewall, symantec AV9, and disabled the windows firewall.

BTW, I've installed the 'spy' kinda software that came with the game, should I need to do anything with it? Thanks

is the bf2.exe on the exzempt list for all of your firewalls?

I don't think so, will include it and see what happens.

Got another question BTW. How do I play BF2 in windowed(not fullscreen) mode? In case I try to connect BF2, I'd like to observe in real time what goes on with the firewall, and in case it screws up again, I'd like to make sure I won't have to hard reset. Many thanks :)

yeah it does still sound like firewall issues, windowed is a good way to check, also look in your firewall logs, it should tell you whats trying to access and the timestamp will be a givaway.

that 'spy' software is gamespy, its a 3rd party browser, you do not need it and even if you did there are better things available but anyway its not active when you log in so its not the problem.
