How to solve choppyness in game?

I'm not expecting to be able to run BF2 on impressive settings, but I just want to be able to play. I have:

Inspiron|E1505:

Intel 1.83 Ghz
1 gig ram
Radeon X1400

Now I can open the game and run it and such, but it seems like no matter what graphics settings my laptop is on, when I play online its so choppy I can't aim at all and just get owned everytime. Servers that are pings of ~100 on my desktop are 180 I think last time I checked. I just really want to play. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

ur cpu is a bit weak for this game

when u change video settings remember to delete ur cache files in

C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
that should help a little bit

and then defraggin ur harddrive also help

hmm thanks, I'll try the cache file thing, the only thing is, it seems like its just when I go online too... like single player runs fine, but other games work great online like Half Life 2

use CCleaner and Adaware Se Free addition to help clean comp

well see it supports games like FEAR thats why I am confused, I dont think its an adware problem... is it possible that my graphics card is just not compatible?

The graphics card is fine, my friend has it and it plays BF2 fine. IF anyone didnt realise his CPU is probably a core 2 duo, so ur CPU is great. To see if its graphical lag, in the console(~) type: renderer.drawfps 1 and tell us what the avergae of the first number is.

u got basically the smae laptop as me and when i first had bf2 it was choppy - try running it windowed on med settings 800x600 or 1024x768 depending on how big ur screen is - i do that and now my only prob is that my wireless router is only wireless so far that it has an areial

what would be better? Having 2 gigs of 533 mhz ram, or 1 gig of 677 mhz RAM
