you should get a new computer anyway, 1.9 ghz is the SuXors.

            What are your specs?

My laptop has that built in feature to save power when not connected to a wall (it can also be activated through the power settings).

If it's a Pentium M, Core Series (Bianas), or Core 2 Duo (Merom), this is fixable, and it's very simple to do.

Your mobo probably has the power saving feature enabled call Speedstep, and when nothing is running it will downclock the proc to save power. Nothing is wrong, and you don't need to worry about it.

Can't get more wrong than that. When a proc dies, it locks the computer up or just stops booting, not slowing down.

If it was Pentium 4 1.9 ghz, then it is the SuX0rs.

There's probably an option in the bios somewhere, give me a link to your mobo manual and I might be able to find it.

Hi, i had a similar problem when re-installing windows on my pc, it seems there is a known issue with my mobo and processor (although different to yours) that for some reason that the proc speed drops to like 1.1ghz, i just went into my bios settings and changed the FSB ratio a small amount, booted, then changed it back and it was back up to 1.8ghz, strange...

                          Hope this helps!

Perhaps try posting in a tech support forum

                          Tom

I looked, and I can't find anything about it in the manual. Sorry.
