Patch problem wont install

ok so I just recently came back to bf2 after realizing bf 2142 sucks and so I go and get the latest patch. But when go to install the patch an error comes up that says "Can't find install folder for Bf2" I guess the problem is pretty straight forward but how do I fix this?

And if this helps I dunno if this might be the problem I am running the game off a image of the game. Not because I didnt buy I did, its just easier.

I have this exact same problem and I have installed the game correctly and am running it off the CD.

I had this exact same problem with 2142 and I found instructions on how to edit my registry. Anyone know how to edit for BF2?

Incidentally BF2142 doesnt work barely at all since the latest patch, suuuuuper choppy now and for some reason my ping wont go below 150, I had 0 ping before.

Overall, this is unbeleivable. EA has their heads so far far up their a** that they cant even release patches correctly.

I've got a "normal" install to HD, and after trying to install 1.41 on top of 1.4, I get nowhere. It eats up about 500MB+ of space in a temp folder deep in the C: directory, but I never get to a splash screen. Arg.
