Pre-released Screen shots of BF2

I found this on EA's site, and found myself asking the same question.

Well, I found these and was wondering that BF2 could have been better.

So after looking at these pix and watching the vids, I must say I’m a bit disappointed that some of these vehicles/gadgets, commands/sounds didn’t make it in the full release. I would think this is false advertisement. But I guess that what the demo is for, but even that, they nerfed the hell out of bf2 compared patched vs un-patched.

Couple things I dont like are the full screen minimap, the menu layout and the flags of who killed who. Otherwise I wish it was like that

And with all the hype of QW and AA, it makes me think how much is marketing BS to sell the game and how much is truth.....perfect example BF2.

Will QW's and AA follow in the corporate footsteps, amaze us, excite us, give us half a mongrel..... only to end up a mere shadow of what we were told.

Funny thing is, I can almost guarantee that if we had a BF2 which is similar to the shots posted, and were shown screenshots from our current version, people would say the exact same thing.

"OMG it could have been so much better!"

The grass is always greener, huh ?

yeah, I've seen a few other trailers for BF2; they changed ALOT prior to official release.

Yah I remember checking EA's site daily for updates back before they even released the demo, I was searching for a new game and BF2 seemed pretty sweet, especially the "in-game" videos...lol I guess everybody was a little surprised when they actually bought the game hahah but like someone said, its all marketing. All these screenshots and videos that game developers create are all for marketing purposes to produce hype which makes the game more than it really is….. especially with EA games. I was pretty interested with MoH:Airborne… but they recently released some in-game footage and it pretty much sucked =/ lol and think about it... that’s the “hyped” version ahhahaha

Yep, I remember all that stuff. I still have all the videos that were officially released, and stuff that came out of interviews on my HDD some place. It is funny to hear DiCE talk about custom insigna patches for clans, and totally customizable kits. You figure that they pushed the game back a few months, then a few months more, they would have been able to get all this stuff in...including the laser designator. Well, we all saw the product and knowing what it could have been, and what 2142 now has after a year and half more of tuning the game engine, I feel like something was lost.

I really wish that DiCE would put some energy out to retrofit BF2 with a lot of the enhancements of 2142's engine. After talking for an hour with a DiCE developer a couple nights ago, I got the feel that a chunk of their team is moving forward to Bad Company. (that is not official though).

omg, what could have been if they only put attack helos in mashtuur city. utter chaos i tell you. that mobile aa wouldnt have been a very good idea either. would have been nice if they gave the aimpoint a red tint though.

I'll still settle for the old blackhawk back. Because with that BH they have, as a gunner, the pilot would always be lining up for a lot of his shots. Well, I say that, and it could still be the way it is now with the Attack Helos.

man, you can tell that second video is pre-patching. Look at how many missles he kicked off to hit that HMMWV
