You can't really explain how to lead the target. As is said above, you just go to get the feel for it. I've been playing Sniper for almost 80 hours now and I still suck - I'm an infantry man at heart, but as I need the hours I'll resort to leaving claymores around and hitting people that I know have splash damage in the chest with the L96A1.

Here is a nice link for tweaking your video-card in combination with BF2 ...

          TweakGuides.com - Battlefield 2 Tweak Guide

... for snipers max viewing distance must be 100% to start with. The rest is up to what kind of computer you use. To quickly gain performance (less realistic) is to put Dynamic Shadows Off.

If you have made some progress in the Sniper Kit you can start to use this reference table ...

... if you want to get a rough estimate on any distance use the CP/Flags as reference (use the ALT key) and seee what it is in meters. If you go SquadLeader you can set Waypoints like Move Here and get and exact reading on a distance. This you can also use to pinpoint the distance when you mark a stationary target like another Sniper.

Like all the other Classes the rest comes with experience. Something you will notice before long and which will make you come back to this game
          Have fun out there.

Like a noob? That makes no sense at all. Anyone with COMMON sense would know to drop claymores in a high traffic area or use them for defense. They're mines, that's what they're there for. I guess in your point of view an engy that throws mines around is a "noob" also?

Indeed. It's the same as people calling players a "noob" for using a GL. It's a frigging weapon designed for a purpose, and that purpose is to take out infantry with little hassle. Same as the PKM. It is designed for mowing down infantry in tight quarters, and when people use it in such circumstances, they get called a "noob". Same goes for flash bangs and unlocks and so on and so forth. Players will whine at anything they can.

People need to get over the fact that claymores are an extremely effective tool against infantry, and placing them on a hill behind you to protect you will not wield the same results as placing them in an area such as the allyway on Karkand.

Yea makes about as much sense as the guys that scream noob if you're using unlocks...

Whats always funny to me is 99% of people that ***** about something you did, they turn right around and do the same identical thing. THEN it's skill.

shooting tagets running from youre cross hair (left to right) is hard but not impossible.

if you miss with the 1st shot, look for were the bullit impact is,this helps judge you next shot.

i always go for tagets and i dont always hit 1st time, but i do hit.

it also looks better when you get a head shot on a sprinting infantry player from right to left.

single player is only good for basic aiming, the bots dont sprint that mutch.

try a IO server and get a nice spot to practice youre shots.

also depends on what sniper rifle youre using.

if you use m95 i find it best to keep the cross hair still and try and time it so the target runs in to the bullit.

l96a1 is better for leading, and headshots (thiner crosshair)

well thats a few tips hope they help a bit :)

Usually the person who says thats gay and or this is gay is gay. So comrad joe your just trying to justfy your gayness. Oh and i don't think claymores are illegal well at least i don't think so, I haven't read a new memo, have you

I hit this guy last night... Gulf of Oman... I was lying in the grass about 160m from a flag point... this dude came running from within the US flag, jumped up over the barrier and I jacked him... mid-air headshot... it was definately the coolest shot i've ever had in BF2

                        Just thought I'd share...

My $0.02 would be, if they're moving quickly, give them about 3 seconds to stand still. I'd say probably 60% of the time when I shoot and miss while they're moving, they stand still within 3-4 seconds for one reason or another and I'm still chambering another round kicking myself for not waiting a few seconds. If after 5 seconds, they don't stop running, take a shot for the body... its a lot easier to hit and if they've been hit at all or even just jumped off too high of an embankment, you'll kill them. If not, whip out your pistol and just empty a clip in his direction... you only have to hit him once or twice w/ the pistol to finish him off...

If the person is running away from you or towards you, line up where you think their head will be in about 2 seconds, wait for it, and pull the trigger just before they get to that spot.

Create a squad if it's possible. Then use your Squad leader "Move to" command to measure distances from you to your target or areas where you think your potential targets will appear. Jemme posted a good array of ingame bullet drops. I use simple rule of head size. Up to 200m I aim at the top of the helmet (if really close then in the middel of the head) and after that every 100m adds roughly one head height more to correct bullet drop. Works pretty well and its' rather easy to estimate.

Learn to use SVD and kill like a mtf

                              1. hitting mooving targets: how far ahead do I aim?
-Hitting moving targets can be tricky. I recommend being in a high traffic area where enemies either stop, or are moving directly towards you or directly away from you. But you probably won't get a headshot on a moving target so it's useless anyway. He'll go for cover and spot you for his team. He'll come after you every time he spawns if you piss him off enough. But if he suddenly is prone and then drops dead all he knows is a sniper is somewhere.

Or of course just use your claymores. :p

Just practice. I've got 180 hours as sniper and still learning.

Despite what some people say, claymores are your friends:) so is the pistol, one of the best guns in the game

SVD is one of the best for high KDR, M95 is good when vehicles are involved (8 shoots take out a chopper), M24 is probably the best for accuracy along with the L96A1.

A lot of snipers just lay around waiting for people to run past, waste of time. Get involved, spot the enemy and use your pistol. I've had rounds of 70 kills and 3 to 7 deaths, just takes practice.

Don't listen to people who say clay gay or something equally as imaginative, they normally run around with the SRAW/ERYX permanently out on IO maps, or run into your clays 5 or 6 times, in the same place, in the same round...you'd have thought they'd learn
