I was looking to buy this game a long time ago, and I was turned off by all the talk of people in jets raping the bases. I know that EA still hasn't done anything about it, but what about the servers? Are there many admined servers which don't allow this?

Also, how is the groundpounding in this game? Is there any point in buying it if I don't like flying in jets that much? Don't get me wrong, I will a little, but I prefer guns and tanks much more.

There are lots of maps with tanks and guns, one of them being karkand, which if you do buy it, you'll be playing most of the time. And yes a lot of servers do not allow for baseraping, i may sound like a noob right now, but i don't know what base raping is. I've never seen it happen. Don't worry.

Well if you dont like jets and helis then goto a map were there isnt any there is alot of servers that dont allow baserape and there is usally admins on servers and most of them are good admins.

I really don't have much of an opinion on base-raping, except that it is pretty lame to do it over and over again when you could be doing more important things.

If you're not hanging around in your uncap, but are out of it capping flags and playing the game, instead of sitting around fighting with your teammates over the planes and choppers, you will never have anything against baserape, since you won't be there to experience it. Simple, huh. The point is, this rule is made to protect the players who want to mill about the uncap.

Something I find funny is all the people that complain about jets. Yes I know they are annoying sometimes but I am able to use both stationary AA and mobile AA just fine on jets and Heli's. Like anything you have to just practice. I know I am going to get flamed for this but come one people it's just a came and if you don't like jets or can't fly play IO or maps with out jets.

This game is very good, it's just unique. I cant tell another game that has this kind variety of features.
About Infantry Mode --> it su*ks. In a Karkand 64 with IO, you past most of the time walking from side to side.
About baseraping --> planes are effectively the worst thing ever happened in BF2, but life is life and you'll just have to get used to it. Most of the pilot use planes to baserape, only saw a few that someone actually use a plane to provide air support.
Then about servers forbidding the baserape --> forget it. Every server says "Baserape/camping not allowed. You will be kicked" Yea right. Every server never follows its own rules. Each time I say "please kick that guy, he keep baseraping", I get a "stfu" from one of the admins. Then when I say that the server should respect its rule, I get kicked. When I go baserape one time to annoy other baserapers, I will get kicked for "not following the server rules"

Beside that, BF2 rulz. Infantry combats are just awesome. Dont go in "Chinese pwning maps" like Wake or Dalian where Chinese playing volleyball on beaches when their planes keep the US on their carrier

like 60% of the maps these days are inf. only anyway. Its all firefights in them servers. + the urban warfare is sweet. There is a lot of great maps. + dont worry much about jets rapeing bases. 70% of people in this game dont know how to fly worth a damn anyway.Just watch out for the "AIR MAPS 24/7!" servers if you dont like jets.
