Baseraping

I was looking to buy this game a long time ago, and I was turned off by all the talk of people in jets raping the bases. I know that EA still hasn't done anything about it, but what about the servers? Are there many admined servers which don't allow this?

Also, how is the groundpounding in this game? Is there any point in buying it if I don't like flying in jets that much? Don't get me wrong, I will a little, but I prefer guns and tanks much more.

There is Infantry Only Mode and there are maps without jets.
Don't get me wrong, I will a little, but I prefer guns and tanks much more.

lots of servers do not allow base raping - and as bulzenschasdfoijasdg said, there are many maps without jets.

Plenty of maps with limited (or no) jets.

Personally, I hate freakin' jets. I can't fly well, so maybe that's part of it. But the biggest reason is: there's no viable ground-based AA against jets. It's absolutely unforgivable on the part of EA. But that's about my biggest complaint, so I guess no one's perfect, heheh......

Great game otherwise. Just the jets that suck.

Most servers ban baseraping now - FINALLY!!!!!! jeez

Hopefully there will be a patch made that fixes AA, I have the demo and have huge problems with it as well. I know they kept screwing up when they tried to fix it, but they gotta get right at some point haha.

Thank god for little baseraping. You should see how it is in the demo.

Sorry for being an utter noob, but how exactly do I find and get into a jet? I've looked in FAQs and all they tell you is how to fly them...

They are located, funnily enough, on runways or on the USMC carrier. Of course the map has to have jets on in the first place

Same as any other vehicle, you use the "E" key...................

Jets are located at air strips. Some maps have no jets at all...........

And once you find them, hit "E" to get in. If there are none at the airfield, then someone has already taken one. You may have to wait around a while before it respawns, then the battle of "mine mine mine" begins.

if u dont know how to get in one then dont even think of flying one in a server - start a local game and practice there until u can fly easily without crashing into tree and the floor

I don't fly jets or helicopters because I can't fly for ****, and I prefer being on the ground. There are enough awesome maps without jets/choppers to enjoy and even with them around - they're bareable.

Get the game, I doubt you will regret it. It's awesome. :)

The good news is that flying a jet is pretty dang easy, much easier than flying a helo. Most people can fly a jet in a few minutes. (of course, it takes a little longer to learn how use the jet effectively in combat...)

[EDIT] I like shooting them down with AA too; join a squd with a pilot, and tell him to bring the enemy over you

I'm for baseraping.

First off, I don't agree with a safe zone for anyone. In real war, I'd be bombing your airbases so you couldn't get off the ground to challenge my air force. It's called air superiority, and I'm keeping it.

Secondly, without being base raped, sometimes your team doesn't have incentive to leave it. Half your team will mill around the ship or base fighting over the choppers and planes, instead of capping flags on the mainland (Wake, Oman, etc). Sometimes a good baseraping gives them incentive to move out of the base and play the game. Artillery is also good for this.

Any server or admin against baseraping is probably a pilot and a whiner, who just wants an edge over other players so he can rape them instead. EA did not have these stupid rules in mind when they made the game, so servers should not enforce these stupid rules.

Except in real warfare there is 100x the numbers and more defenses for the people on the carrier.

I don't know if you haven't ever noticed but no airplane has been able to bomb an US aircraft carrier since the kamikaze bombers back in WWII. In all reality the AA that's on a carrier is pretty well defended so the people operating them would be able to launch hundreds of missiles before dying. So don't try and bring real life scenarios into a video game.

I really don't have much of an opinion on base-raping, except that it is pretty lame to do it over and over again when you could be doing more important things.

It's a game, the point of it is to have fun, maybe I'm the only one that sees it as unchallenging- hence it being boring. But common sense is lacking nowadays, surprised some of these people made it out of childhood.
