I got my account back!

my "troybob" account would freeze bf2 while connecting to the account server. i created troyb0b and have been playing that. This happened first in May and it started working again in July for about a week.

So it's been locking up my BF2 since July and I finally was able to log in.

funny thing is it works fine on my laptop. I even re-installed BF2 and deleted my profile and it still locked up on my home computer.

so i'll finally be playing under troybob now.

Oh and i asked EA about it and they told me to upgrade my video drivers to solve the issue. Needless to say, it didn't help.

It's probably a graphics setting or refresh rate in your profile. Try deleting your main account profile and see if you can login with a fresh one.

where do they get these 'tech' people. thats so obviously wrong its pathetic.
zeekers is correct. its probably some stupid setting that caused the problem.

It is My Documents > Profiles > (some number)

AFAIK these won't go away even when you uninstall the game.

It could be the default refresh rate, make sure all the profiles are deleted, boot up BF2, then open the default video.con file and change it to your desktop refresh rate (and others, try them all).

Did all that too. It was an odd error.

Tell me...how do you think the refresh rate would cause this error? My monitor didn't black out or anything. In fact - the red "2" keeps spinning. I left it spinning for 2 days just to check (busy weekend).

It was a wierd error. At first i thought it was a network error refreshing my favorites. But afer deleting my profiles and doing some magic (I took my working troyb0b profile and replaced the username with troybob and my password - still froze) it still didn't work.

I think a famous TBF2 quote sums it up: It happens. It's strange. It's BF2
