When I hit ` to go to the console in game, it looks like the letters are put together and extra dots and dashes are shown. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I know exactly what you are talking about. It completely cleared up when I updated my EVGA 7800GT. When that card later went bad, I borrowed my friends, and his did the same thing. He later flashed it, and it cleared up. Now, on my 7900GT, I have it too. I have updated the drivers a few times, but still have not flashed it. Might give that a try.Comment

There is a ROM chip that is flashable much like the BIOS on your motherboard. On my EVGA, I had to go into their support site, and put in my serial number/model info to download it. I can't recall if it was an EXE or bootable floppy flash.Originally posted by SgtSprinkleswhat do you mean by flashing it? and my drivers are all up to date
Flashing is different then a driver. Where a Driver is to help windows better interact with the hardware. The Flash is a type of software (firmware) hardcoded into the physical chip. It can be updated or modified but should be done only if you know what you are doing and what risks are involved. Typically it is a straight forward process. But you do need to make sure it is the only thing you are doing. Sometimes, you can update this stuff via windows and that can be dangerous because some service in the background, virus protection, or causal web browsing could screw it up and damage the video card. It is best to do it with a bootable device like a floppy or USB thumbdrive if your system is compatible.
Good luck if you take this route.Comment
