BF2142 vs BF2, did they break off? Or did the statpadders leave?

I havent really had a chance to play for 3 months now, but Im anxious to get back into action. Ive been curious about the statistics. Since Im a X-Fire user, I see the played minutes a lot and its actually amusing to see, that when BF2142 first came out, it beat BF2 by quite a margin. RIght now, BF2 is leading. So what happened?

Did BF2142 fail as a proper sequal, in taking the majority of the BF players with itsself? Or arent BF2 days over just yet? I know some people have predicted that once people will play BF2142 and be disappointed in it, they will come back. Has that happened?

And for the quality of servers. Has anything changed? If BF2 community really did divide up, does it translate into the average bunch of people in the current BF2 servers too?

bf2 pwnd 2142 before even before it was released.

bf2 rox even with its glitches/imbalances

bf2 will only stop rockin' once ET:QW is available.

You know, I think it pulled a lot of the kids out of BF2. Those are the ones that I noticed left. There are a lot more mature players now in BF2. I guess you can say it goes back to the console theory that once a kid beats the game, they buy a new one.

I see QuakeWars as being the BF2/2142 killer. I will be departing for that game when it comes out (and I have been saying that all year). I have even started to split my time with TBF2 and TotalQW.

If DiCE could keep support BF2, in some capacity, they could continue getting some kind of revenue stream from it. Hell, just releasing maps might help a lot over fixes.

I have also noticed that the population of the forums here have gone up a little in the last two weeks also.

Oh man, I absolutly love BF 2142! The unlocks kick a**. Theres all these cool gagets to play with, all the maps are awesome, I dont have a fav one because I like them all, theres only 12 vehicles but that doesnt seem to matter. Everything just seems a tad clearner in BF 2142, like DICE was trying to fit in to their full potential. Titan mod is fun, but I'm not going to fully play it until patch 1.05.

To sum it up, the reason why BF 2142 is the 3rd best selling game of the year is because of the infantry. You know how in Karkand its the same crap every round, med bags and ammo bags flying around hitting you in the face. Well in 2142, thats not the case, its so diverse. All the unlocks make it fun and surprising. So really, all the jet and heli whores/flyers will hate BF 2142, but if your a Karkand or Ghost Town or Jalabad junky, you'll love it.

This isnt by amount of players it by minutes. Its taken from XFire so it just logs people with xfire AFAIK.
