Hi people pretyt new to bf2 playing for about a month, here are my computer specs

AMD Athlon 2600 2.1 ghz
1024 ram
Nvidia 5600 fx PCI Bus/Integrated RAMDAC i donnoo what the means help??@?@?@?@

anyways so which card is good fr me. people say not to get the 512 mb one i dont know why but okey. but which one is good cause i want to play on all high. basicly



and pci bus, does that mean its express? caus ei need to know before posting the links. :O

Sorry. PCI and PCI-E are entirely different...and you're stuck with PCI.

You MIGHT have an AGP slot. If you got a very good AGP card (we're talking 6800gt, 7600gs, or x800xt or above) you could put the settings that really matter on high--i.e. 1280x1024 resolution, max view distance, geometries, and a couple of others to taste.

Then, again, you may not even have an AGP slot. I think I recall that some HP's and Dell shipped without them.

You're going to probably want to build a new PC to enjoy the newer games. Good news is (if you don't want to build one) that there are very decent computers out there that are in the bargain basement bin--you can pick up a Pentium D these days for cheap, and then get a PCI-E 7600gt for $140 (you can get them for $115 after rebates in some places). Then you're gaming happy.

He's right on all of that.
Besides i would get a video card that is a NVidia, and is in the 7 series or 8 series..
The prices have dropped dramatically since the 8 series has came out.

this is a custom built computer. doesnt even have a name on case lol. so which do i have agp or pci? how do i check?

i just opened my computer up it said AGP 8X on the fan so im guessing its agp. :) can anyone confirm?

Hit the windows key. Type in DXDIAG. Hit enter. There's your answer. :)

Edit: Posting the model of your board would also provide the answer. :)

There is a utility called cpuz that will give you all the information you could ever ask about your system.

It should. Are you sure you aren't pulling down the right menu?

Look at your motherboard. Post the model number, or google it. It will give you the possible graphics interface available.

When you first boot up the computer, the mother board model is usually displayed. What does your PC tell you?

If you have ~$150, an AGP: 6800gt, x800xt, x850xt, or (so I've heard) a x1600 or 7600gs would make you happy gamer.

6600gt wouldn't be bad at all either, if you can pick one up cheap. I've found that Ebay is a fairly good source for cheap second hand computer parts.

If you are willing to spend more (~$500), get a deeply discounted pentium d computer system with 1gb of ram off the shelf that has a PCI-E port, and drop in a ~$200 7900gt or x1900xt. Now, you're VERY happy gamer.

If you're willing to spend $1000, then you've got more options than we can go into.

Oh, and just so you're aware, the 7800gs is THE BEST agp card available. It has a price tag to match:

I've heard (on these forums) that the x1600PRO is decent mid-end card. That's hard to believe--On paper, it looks like utter cropola. GDDR2 and 128-bit interface? Still, folks are saying they're happy with it, so it can't be complete trash.

I like that 6800gs...but if I was spending my own hard-earned money, I'd probably pick something like this 6800xt, and then apply the 25/25mhz "oc" myself :)
