I've found that most reasonable players will watch what you do the next couple seconds to see if you drop their kit for a different one that might be sitting around. They switch, you switch... back to normal. On the other hand, if you get some moron reviving you and taking your kit then just running off the majority of the time they are just running straight to their death anyway. They'll die, you kill the enemy then just grab your kit back.
What bothers me most is the completely bugged kit junk that goes on now when you get revived. Sometimes I get my kit, sometimes I get a copy of my kit while the one I died with lies on the ground, sometimes I get the kit of the medic that is reviving me, and sometimes I get something completely random. I've been grenaded in the middle of an empty road only to get revived a few seconds later to reappear with a shotgun and no other kits lying around. And no, the medic wasn't a Engineer and swapped for my kit. The medic symbol was on the radar for the guy running across the map to revive me.
